Philippians 4:6-7 and the story of Lazarus begins to hit deeply. This story reminds us that the hardship we face too, which is poverty, illness, do not define our destiny.
Lazarus was a beggar in the Bible and faced so many struggles. Yet, he was never complaining. He was faithful. And God carried him to the bottom of Abraham, a place where he found eternal peace. So what does this teach us?
It teaches us that no matter how tough life may be, that we should allow faith to anchor our confidence. We should stop worrying about death or allowing depression to hold us down. But we should trust in God that it will bring us peace.
This our understanding in Hebrews 9:27. It says that it is appointed for us to die once and after then comes judgment. So this is just something that we must become afraid of. Just like the story of Lazarus, which shows that even though wealth and status doesn't matter in the end, only faith can bring us or put us to the bottom of the Father's soul.
Even the thief, when he was hung on the cross, also trusted Jesus and had faith. Isaiah 57 also reminded us that God always wants to take the righteous early in order to spare them away from the future, even a softness from this world.
This perspective is to shift our life as believers and challenges us to fix our eyes. And the things of this world or material things. So let us hold on fast to faith. Let us get hold and free ourselves from anxieties. And trust that God will give us eternal life at the end of it all.
