So the teachings of Brother Eli which he explained the suffering and he offered a profound perspective on a Christmas that has been haunting humanity for years and centuries now.
Why does a loving God permit suffering?
If we are to look in the book of Genesis chapter 22 verse 16 to 17 and Romans chapter 5 verse 12, suffering and death enter the world through the disobedience of humans. God had to create humanity in his own image which was upright, free from sin and evil, pputting them in a perfect place known as the Garden of Eden, where they lacked nothing.
They were given all, and they were entitled to all freedom and enjoyment, but they were exalted from part of eating or taking from monthly, which was the tree of knowledge of good and evil. So disobedience to this command brought up sin, and with it was death and suffering, and also the consequence of all this. So this perspective also began to frame suffering as a result of the choice made by humans.
Brother Eli tried to emphasize on God’s justice underpins what the universe really says. From the gravitational balance maintaining the earth’s orbiting to the moral order governing we, humans, we relate to others. Just as also the sun, which keeps the planets, in that position that is life sustaining.
When we adhere to God’s law, it ensures harmony. So disobedience like imbalance, just like a cosmic force, which also brings consequences. suffering being one of them also. So therefore, the position of the DNA of humans to sins shows how deep disobedience has disrupted God’s original plan for humans.
So yet, the love of God still remains the major evidence. He allowed justice to prevail, not out of anger or cruelty, but just to maintain the order and fairness of the world.
Why suffering then? Suffering is not just a divine punishment, but a consequence that our fear has cost us. When we missed our opportunity, suffering is what was left or given as punishment to humans. for going against the law of God and how he designed the world to be and trying to go do it on our own way.
The Bible is assuring us that the God’s mercy of our redemption which is through Christ is to restore that law that sin has broken.
So what this teaching is all about is just a reflection. It tells us Christians that rather than blaming God, we have to examine our choices, think critically, seek for alignment and do things which is in line with God’s purposes in our life. Rejoice in his love and his will.
