At the Hive Summit in Aachen we were glad to welcome a speaker from Microsoft who brought an unusual perspective. He described himself as having “two hearts” because he works in a very centralized company, yet he also believes strongly in the decentralized world of blockchain. His first experience with Bitcoin in 2015 showed him both the excitement and the risks of this technology.
In his talk he explained how we moved from the early internet, Web1, through the social and interactive era of Web2, and now into Web3 with decentralized ownership and transparency. He also looked ahead to what he called Web4, where artificial intelligence will work hand in hand with blockchain. AI will make it possible to write and check smart contracts in seconds and create new kinds of agents that act for us.
He showed live how Microsoft Copilot can already generate simple code for NFTs on Hive and other blockchains. The message was clear: AI is not just changing the internet, it is creating what he called the “internet of intelligence.” By combining AI and decentralization we can build solutions that are easier, safer and more accessible for everyone.
This talk fit perfectly into the Hive Summit spirit. It reminded us that Hive is a place where technology, business and community meet, and where new ideas for the future can grow.
