At the Hive Summit in Aachen, @roelandp took the stage not only to thank the catering team for their wonderful work but also to share his thoughts on Hive and the road ahead. His session, called "Beyond the Fest", was less a presentation and more a conversation with the audience.
@roelandp reflected on his own journey, from years of building apps that nobody used, to learning the importance of testing ideas early and finding product-market fit. He compared Hive’s evolution to a living organism that keeps changing shape. What started as blogging on the blockchain has now become a home for games, media, finance, and communities of all kinds. To him, Hive is like a family, but he asked the audience two important questions: What is Hive to you? and What is Hive missing?
The answers sparked a lively exchange. Many pointed to easier onboarding, better accessibility for new users, and the need for stronger marketing and sales. The message was clear: Hive has the technology and the community, but it also needs visibility and outreach to grow further.
@roelandp then turned to HiveFest, which will take place in Kuala Lumpur in October. He announced a ticket giveaway and shared plans for a new format called ChainCulture (https://chainculture.cc). This second day of the conference will be open to the public, aimed at connecting Hive with other blockchains and local communities in Asia.
His talk closed with an invitation: HiveFest is not just a gathering of insiders but a breeding ground for new ideas, cross-chain collaborations, and real-world connections. The community spirit, he reminded us, is what makes Hive strong — and what will carry it forward.
