Today, I visited Mama Lek, located inside the Cosway building in Bukit Bintang, which offers a cosy yet lively dining experience. The restaurant’s interior is warm and inviting, with earthy-toned walls, soft pendant lighting, and a compact layout that creates a casual, bustling atmosphere. Diners are seated closely, and the hum of conversation fills the space, giving it an authentic street-food vibe but in a comfortable indoor setting.
This time, I ordered Fresh Beef Slices & Beef Ball dish that cost RM21.50 per bowl. It served with your choice of noodles — Sen Lek (medium rice noodles), Kanom Jeen (fermented rice noodles), or glass noodles. I chose Sen Lek, which pairs beautifully with the light yet flavorful broth served on the side. The noodles are topped with tender fresh beef slices, springy beef balls, crushed peanuts, and crispy chicken skin for texture. Fresh cilantro and fried garlic enhance the aroma, while the sauce carries a mild sweetness that balances the savory beef notes. The mix of peanuts and chicken skin gives a delightful crunch, contrasting with the soft beef and chewy noodles.
It’s a comforting bowl that blends the richness of beef with bright herbal notes, perfect for a quick yet satisfying meal in the heart of the city.
