Hello to my Hive Food family ❤️ Another day, another recipe to share🎉 Today, I’ll be sharing a flan pudding recipe. It’s a budget-friendly version of our country’s famous dessert, Leche Flan. I really love Leche Flan because of its fantastic taste-soft, sweet, creamy, and melts in your mouth. But making it can be a bit costly. Thankfully, I discovered a budget version that uses simpler ingredients, so now I can easily make it anytime I want without spending too much.
Now, let’s start cooking!
Ingredients: 2 sachets powdered milk (66g, any brand will do)
4 medium-sized eggs
1 piece calamansi ( Vanilla's alternative)
45g cheese (optional)
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons sugar (white or brown)
Procedure: Crack the eggs into a bowl and add the powdered milk. (You may add sugar if you want extra sweetness.)
Next, grate half of the cheese and add it to the mixture. Cut and squeeze the calamansi, making sure to strain it to avoid the seeds.
Mix everything thoroughly until the powdered milk and eggs are well combined and smooth.
ln the llanera, put 1 tablespoon sugar and melt it on the fire until it becomes caramel. Be careful not to burn it, as it will taste bitter. Once melted, set it aside to cool.
When the caramel has cooled, pour the mixture into the llanera.
Prepare the steamer by boiling half a liter of water. (I usually boil water in the electric kettle first and then transfer it to the steamer to save time.)
Place the llanera in the steamer. Cover it to prevent water droplets from dripping onto the flan. Set the stove to low heat, cover the steamer, and cook for about 30 minutes.
Check the flan by inserting a toothpick or stick-if it comes out smooth and clean, it’s already cooked. Remove it from the steamer and let it cool completely.
Once cooled, remove the flan pudding from the llanera and transfer it onto a plate 🎉
Add the half cheese grated, and here's the final product! The presentation may not be perfect, but I promise the taste is almost the same as Leche Flan ❤️
I especially love making this during snack time because my son always requests it and whenever he do I can easily buy the ingredients in the near store. In fact, he usually finishes the whole llanera by himself ❤️
That’s all for today. Thank you for reading ❤️
