En el día de ayer publiqué un artículo sobre los apodos de los seleccionados nacionales de varias especialidades, alli mencioné que probablemente esta moda haya nacido mucho tiempo atrás, en los inicios del siglo XX en una gira del equipo nacional de rugby de Nueva Zelanda.
En esa gira surgió el nombre de "All Blacks" y no importa si los quisieron denominar de esa manera o fue por un error de tipeo o interpretación, su apodo se convirtió en leyenda de la mano de su juego extraordinario que lo llevó a ser considerado el seleccionado más importante a nivel mundial en ese deporte, el más respetado y el más temido.
En el día de ayer dio comienzo oficialmente el torneo mundialmente conocido como Rugby Championship en su edición del 2025, este campeonato está integrado por las 4 selecciones nacionales de rugby más importantes del hemisferio sur: Nueva Zelanda, Australia, Sudáfrica y Argentina, también podríamos haber dicho All Blacks, Wallabies, Springboks y Pumas, los apodos con que son conocidos esos 4 equipos en todo el ambiente del rugby mundial.
La Argentina fue incorporado al Rugy Championship solo unos años atrás, los seleccionados nacionales de Sudáfrica y los dos de Oceanía jugaban antes de ello el Torneo de las Tres Naciones en clara contraposición al Torneo de las Seis Naciones que juegan en Europa Inglaterra, Escocia, Gales, Irlanda, Francia e Italia, también aquí con la incorporación de los italianos un tiempo después de su creación.
Como decía, ayer se enfrentaron aquí en Argentina, en el estadio Mario Alberto Kempes de la ciudad de Córdoba, Los Pumas y los All Blacks, con toda la ilusión del equipo argentino por vencer nuevamente a su par de Nueva Zelanda luego de la primera y extraordinaria victoria obtenida el año anterior de visitantes. Pero no ocurrió, los neozelandeses retornaron con esa sana costumbre de imponer condiciones en cualquier estadio del mundo y vencieron por un cómodo 41 a 24.
En el otro encuentro disputado en el Ellis Park de Johannesburgo hubo una situación por demás inusual y extraordinaria, luego de ir detrás en el marcador por 22 a 0, el equipo de Australia se impuso por 38 a 22 a Sudáfrica en una remontada única que pasará a los libros de historia de este deporte. Vencieron a los bicampeones del mundo de visitante, revirtiendo un marcador muy adverso y dando una gran sorpresa.

Muy pronto el Rugby Championship 2025 tendrá continuidad, dentro de una semana Los Pumas volverán a verse cara a cara con los All Blacks, en esta oportunidad en el estadio del club Atlético Velez Sarsfield aquí en la Capital Federal, ¿habrá revancha? no lo sabemos, pero si seguramente el estadio estará colmado como en el día de ayer y la ilusión intacta.
