He leído todas y cada una de las notas que los amigos, principalmente venezolanos, han publicado en nuestro querido feed de @fulldeportes sobre la derrota que los dejó afuera de toda posibilidad de llegar a su primera copa mundial.
Generalmente las palabras no pueden expresar completamente, a menos que el escritor sea un firme candidato al Premio Nobel de Literatura, el dolor y la angustia de una derrota dolorosa que cortó de raíz la posibilidad de ingresar por vez primera al mundial de fútbol que se desarrollará el próximo año en América del Norte.
No puedo imaginar siquiera lo que esa frustración ha provocado en el ánimo del sufrido pueblo venezolano pero si les digo que la esperanza y la decepción son hermanas muy unidas y transitan juntas los sinuosos caminos de la vida; la primera es la que despierta y soporta la pasión, incluso por encima de la razón, la segunda enseña a resistir el dolor cuando su hermana y compañera de viaje no alcanza a acertar con la senda correcta.

La selección de Venezuela quiso y no pudo, no vi el encuentro por lo cual no puedo opinar sobre su desempeño, no obstante es casi irrelevante y solo queda levantarse, restañar las heridas, aprender lo que se pueda y volver a intentarlo, es la única manera. Como cuando de niño se aprende a andar en bicicleta.
Por supuesto, hubiera querido que tuvieran esa oportunidad del repechaje, lo merecían porque durante todo el torneo fueron más que Bolivia, pero no se dio. Quizás los nervios, el no estar convencidos, fallas tácticas o cualquier otra cosa provocaron la derrota; al final del recorrido quedaron con las manos vacías.
Ya habrá otras oportunidades donde seguramente capitalizarán este fracaso, nada está dicho y todo puede ser mejor la próxima vez. Eso al menos es lo que deben repetirse, van a mejorar, finalmente clasificarán a un juego mundial y hasta quizás puedan crecer en el contexto del fútbol sudamericano. Todo está a disposición, solo hay que animarse y tomarlo.

Un gran abrazo para mi amigo @fermionico que hizo una cobertura magnífica de lo que debió ser una fiesta completa, también para los otros miembros de la comunidad que escriben habitualmente de la selección Vinotinto, @musicandreview, @nameless16, @sadiel0102 que sin ser venezolano se ha solidarizado con ellos, en fin, muchísimos amigos que sufren y lloran la dolorosa derrota.
Un párrafo aparte para @miguelaag que nos sacó una sonrisa con esa ingeniosa forma de transformar un hecho doloroso en otro jovial, desdramatizando. En ese contexto puedo agregar que para las próximas eliminatorias, si como dicen Uruguay, Paraguay y Argentina clasificarán directamente al organizar cada una de ellas un partido, Venezuela tiene asegurado el repechaje.
Sigamos con la pasión del hincha que vive de y por la esperanza pese a los golpes que recibe, se los digo yo que de esto sé, no es fácil ser simpatizante de mi querido Lobo Platense, solo 2 veces campeón en 138 años de vida y más de 200 torneos disputados.

#### Resisting the pain
I've read every single article that friends, mostly Venezuelans, have posted on our beloved @fulldeportes feed about the defeat that left them without any chance of reaching their first World Cup.
Words generally can't fully express, unless the writer is a strong candidate for the Nobel Prize in Literature, the pain and anguish of a painful defeat that cut short any chance of qualifying for the first time in the World Cup, which will be held next year in North America.
I can barely imagine the frustration this has caused among the long-suffering Venezuelan people. Still, I can tell you that hope and disappointment are closely related sisters, traveling together on the winding paths of life. The former awakens and endures passion, even above reason; the latter teaches us to endure pain when its sister and traveling companion fails to find the right path.
The Venezuelan national team tried, but couldn't. I didn't see the match, so I can't comment on their performance. However, it's almost irrelevant, and all that's left to do is pick themselves up, heal their wounds, learn what they can, and try again. It's the only way. Like when you're a kid learning to ride a bicycle.
Of course, I would have liked them to have that chance in the playoffs. They deserved it because they were better than Bolivia throughout the tournament, but it didn't happen. Perhaps nerves, lack of conviction, tactical errors, or something else caused the defeat; at the end of the tournament, they were left empty-handed.
There will be other opportunities where they'll surely capitalize on this failure. Nothing is certain, and everything can be better next time. At least that's what they should repeat: they'll improve, they'll finally qualify for a world championship, and perhaps even grow in the context of South American football. Everything is available; they just have to be brave and take it.
A big hug to my friend @fermionico, who provided magnificent coverage of what must have been a full celebration. Also to the other members of the community who regularly write about the Vinotinto team: @musicandreview, @nameless16, @sadiel0102, who, despite not being Venezuelan, has expressed his solidarity with them. In short, so many friends suffer and mourn the painful defeat.
A separate paragraph for @miguelaag, who brought a smile to our faces with that ingenious way of transforming a painful event into a jovial one, downplaying it. In that context, I can add that for the next qualifiers, if, as Uruguay, Paraguay, and Argentina claim, they qualify directly by each hosting a match, Venezuela is guaranteed a playoff spot.
Let's continue with the passion of the fan who lives by and for hope despite the blows he receives. I tell you because I know this: it's not easy to be a fan of my beloved Lobo Platense, only twice champion in 138 years of life and more than 200 tournaments played.
