After quitting Rise of the Ronin, I started Hell is Us while waiting for Death Stranding 2. The eerie world without maps or markers feels fresh. From strange lights under waterfalls to a mysterious old man and a wounded soldier guarding an APC, the game already feels unsettling and different.

This time I decided to try Hell is Us, as the trailer tells me I'd get the similarity of Death Stranding in this game while I'm waiting for DS 2. The warning of this game at the beginning about not having a map or markers was cool.

The game started with a cinematic part where a dude with an ugly face, who was talking like a detective, was asking questions to my character. It looked like my character was caught for trespassing in a place called Hadea.

My character was getting truth serum there, and it seemed like he went into a flashback where I'd live his past life. He looked like a soldier of an organization that goes by ON.

He left his suit in the forest and tried to disguise himself as a civilian. And he saw a chopper flying above him, which looked like the chopper was looking for him.

I didn't have any map or markers to show where I needed to go, as the game mentioned at the beginning. And I kinda liked the photo mode at first glance. It's far better than Ronin.

I started moving forward while trying the photo mode from different angles. The atmosphere was too eerie and scary.

I noticed this strange, glowing light below the waterfalls that I tried to investigate, and there I noticed a strange language that I couldn't decode.

I kept moving through the waterways, through the forest, through graveyards. I was actually having a little Resident Evil feel in the game.

There I found a house and a human being in the basement of the house. After asking how he is, I asked about the Village of Jova, and he gave me a key to open the gate of the woods, as I'd find a vehicle there that I'd need to get to the Village of Jova.

That's the gate I was talking about. I mean, I could just jump over it, couldn't I? Though I noticed I can't really jump in the game, or not yet.

I went ahead and noticed these chimes on some trees, and there were multiple roads ahead. I was just following the ones where I could see the chimes.

I found the vehicle the old man was talking about, it's an APC, and it needed a key to get unlocked. There was this wounded soldier who asked me to get him a medkit so he'd tell me where I could find the key to the APC.
We'll continue in another post.
