ONE YEAR IN THE MAKING : Making Memories Before We Grow Up

My friends and I are the types of people who rarely go out to beaches, swimming pools, or go out drinking, but we still are very close to each other.

We would try to plan outings and overnights but it never really came to fruition. It became yet another "drawing" outing. Drawing means something that's been planned but never realized.

But then we realized that we wanted to spend time to bond together while we were still having online classes because once we go back to face-to-face classes, we would not see each other very often, so we made sure to go out before that would happen.

One of our friends, who was back from Davao came home and wanted to spend time with us, he offered to buy food and booze.

We only planned this at night, at we wanted to go out tomorrow morning, so we did not have a lot of time to prepare. We did not have plans for food or the things we wanted to bring, we just went with it.

All of us planned to meet up at our local 711 at 8:30 AM, and while waiting for everyone, we decided we were going to buy meat to grill and condiments to use for the marinade and our sauce.

Our initial plan was to commute, but thankfully, one of our friends who drove a pickup truck came, he arrived at 10 AM (classic Filipino time), but still, we saved tons of money from our fare so that was all good.

Due to us not planning things out, we forgot to bring rice to complement our food, but thankfully one of our classmates was nearby and offered to cook us rice, so everything worked out great.

Myself, my friends Remnant and Jeyzl could not contain ourselves anymore, and jumped at the very cold water to cool down from all the heat that day, especially because we were at the back of the pickup.

My friends did not know how to make fire or "haling" as we call it here, so I was in charge of that station. And my friend Clint offered to grill the meat, he was the grill master at that time.

We then ate our food and talked about life. Some of them drank beers, while most of us did not. But still, we had an awesome time talking and just telling our future plans. Just goes to show that we don't need to consume alcohol to have a great time.

We all swam in the pool, and constantly sled from the water slides, and pretty much enjoyed our time out together.

The pool was deep enough for all of us, but my friend Keannu did not find it deep at all. While all of us were tip-toeing to stay afloat, he was just walking.

Some of them left early, but most of us stayed and made the most of our time together. We talked about how long this outing was due, and what things to do better next time.

We then talked about how much we missed being together just like in high school, and how we would not forget about each other when we grew up and have jobs and all that.

I even joked that they should always let me borrow money when they were rich and successful because my future looks dark and bleak lol.

While walking towards the bus terminal, we still joked about lots of things, ranted about school, and how we all wanted to go abroad when we had jobs because our country is notorious for underpaying professional workers all the time.

On the ride home, we were pretty drained. We rode a multicab and my friend Jeyzl was beside me and we talked about how his life was as a college student studying Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation. The whole ride we talked, and I really enjoyed every single second of it.

As we grow up, we tend to talk about things that are more mature, and those stupid things we did in the past only remain as memories that we laugh at and think of from time to time.

Growing up is for sure a thing that we all must experience, it may be sad but it's a part of life.

Walking home, I was very thankful to have spent that day with every single one of them. They are the people that will for sure be there for me when I am down, and I will always be thankful for them.

It dawned on me that it might take a long time again to see their faces again, or I might not see them again at all, but I'm thankful that I have them as my friends. And I would not change that for anything in the world.

In the past, I thought that being alone was a good thing. And to some extent, it is, being independent and learning to be happy on your own is great. But it does not hurt to surround yourself with an amazing group of friends who will be there for you when you need it.

To each and every single one of my friends, I want you to know that I love you and I hope you guys achieve everything you want in your lives!

To more outings and no more drawings!
