Los electrodomésticos definitivamente se han convertido en nuestros grandes aliados, nos hacen más fácil la vida y nos ayudan mucho para no agotarnos en las tareas domésticas. Pensé mucho sobre quien se ganaba esa estrella, la nevera o frigorífico es muy importante, es de terror si no tenemos donde conservar los alimentos. Hace un par de años se echó a perder mi lavadora y la pasé muy mal, sin embargo, podemos soportar solo lavar lo más esencial a mano, pero no supera la falta de refri, en mi opinión. Pese a estos dos ejemplos, hoy le doy la estrella a mi aliado, el aire acondicionado.

No me creerán si les digo que yo era alérgica al aire acondicionado, literal, el frío me daba rinitis, es un tipo de alergia donde no paramos de estornudar y pican los ojos. Además de eso, yo era muy friolenta, así que pasé años durmiendo con un ventilador. Para mí era suficiente, de hecho yo sentía frío con el ventilador y sufría mucho cuando tenía que dormir en casa de amigas o en vacaciones en hoteles a la merced del aire acondicionado. Como fue que pasé de un ventilador a un aire acondicionado?. Resulta que con la edad comenzó mi declive hormonal con la llegada de la menopausia. Uno de los síntomas son los calorones a cualquier hora, y los peores, los nocturnos. Eso significó la derrota del ventilador frente a mi nueva carga calorífica, mientras sufría la subida de la temperatura, no podía dormir y no dormir me estaba afectando mucho.

En diciembre del 2024 decidí hacer una inversión, con la ayuda de Hive compré un aire acondicionado. La verdad es que tuve que caminar bastante para encontrarlo, los precios eran altos, sobrepasaban los 300 dólares. Una de las tiendas recomendadas eran las de la cadena Multimax, no obstante, para ese tiempo esos electrodomésticos estaban agotados y esperaban ser surtidos nuevamente sin fecha fija. Luego se me ocurrió ir a la nueva tienda IVOO que habían inaugurado recientemente en la ciudad y allí compré mi artefacto. Por el tamaño de mi cuarto que es pequeño pensé en un aire acondicionado de 9.000 BTU, sin embargo, había de 5.000 BTU que no era suficiente y de 12.000 BTU, capacidad que vi algo alta para el espacio, pero estaba a buen precio y al final lo compré. Fue mi regalo de navidad, pagué 245$, de la marca Soneview, no lo conocía, pero me dijeron que es reconocida y de buena calidad.

Me dieron dos semanas para probarlo por si de tener algún defecto, cambiarlo en ese tiempo. La instalación fue todo un tema, primero el lugar donde ponerlo, luego, la compra del protector, sin eso, no lo podía instalar y más con los bajones de luz que están a la orden del día aquí en Venezuela. Después, el tema era donde enchufarlo, porque el lugar de su instalación estaba lejos del toma corriente que está en el cuarto. Un primo me estaba ayudando, él sabe algo de electricidad, pero pese a ello, me había dicho que usáramos una extensión, craso error. Menos mal que me puse a leer el manual de instrucciones y eso estaba prohibido. En todo ese proceso pasó una semana del tiempo de prueba, yo rogaba por la instalación y que no hubiera defectos de fábrica. Hablando con un compañero de trabajo que es ingeniero electricista, me recomendó usar cable número 12 para la conexión del aire acondicionado, afortunadamente en casa había y pude solventar, porque además, los metros fueron exactos. Es importante destacar, que este tipo de cable es bastante costoso.

Gracias a Dios se pudo solventar, al fin el aire se instaló y funcionó a la perfección. Mi primo tuvo que cubrir algunos espacios con anime, pero tomó los que vinieron en la caja del aire acondicionado y en las instrucciones decía que había que dejar todo en buen estado, protectores y caja, por si dentro del período de las dos semanas tendría que llevarlo a la tienda para cambiarlo, yo me puse nerviosa. Solo una semana de la garantía quedaba por todos los inconvenientes que se suscitaron para la instalación, pero el aire pasó la prueba. Ya tengo 8 meses con este aliado estrella sin problemas, se le han lavado los filtros un par de veces, no obstante, ya le toca mantenimiento y en estos días voy a comprar el líquido indicado para ello porque me gusta cuidar lo que tengo.

Este electrodoméstico es mi aliado estrella porque me causa terror acostarme en medio de tanto calor que hace en casa aunado a mis vaporones producto del desequilibrio hormonal, de verdad no lo soportaría. Por otra parte, les cuento que uno de los electrodomésticos que me gustaría tener es una freidora de aire. No conozco bien sus funciones, pero me han contado que se puede utilizar en muchas preparaciones, sobre todo, cocinar de forma saludable. The refrigerator is very important; it would be terrible if we had nowhere to store our food. A couple of years ago, my washing machine broke down, and I had a really hard time. However, we can manage by washing only the essentials by hand, but in my opinion, it's not as bad as not having a refrigerator. Despite these two examples, today I'm giving the star to my ally, the air conditioner.

You won't believe me if I tell you that I was allergic to air conditioning. Literally, the cold gave me rhinitis, which is a type of allergy where you can't stop sneezing and your eyes itch. On top of that, I was very sensitive to the cold, so I spent years sleeping with a fan. It was enough for me. In fact, I felt cold with the fan and suffered a lot when I had to sleep at friends' houses or on vacation in hotels at the mercy of the air conditioning. How did I go from a fan to air conditioning? It turns out that with age, my hormones began to decline with the onset of menopause. One of the symptoms is hot flashes at any time of day, and the worst ones are at night. That meant the fan was defeated by my new heat load. While I suffered from the rise in temperature, I couldn't sleep, and not sleeping was affecting me a lot.

A cousin was helping me; he knows a little about electricity, but despite that, he told me to use an extension cord, which was a big mistake. Luckily, I read the instruction manual and saw that this was not allowed. During that whole process, a week of the trial period passed, and I was praying for the installation to go smoothly and that there would be no manufacturing defects. Talking to a coworker who is an electrical engineer, he recommended using 12-gauge cable for the air conditioner connection. Fortunately, I had some at home and was able to solve the problem, because the length was also just right. It is important to note that this type of cable is quite expensive.

Thankfully, the issue was resolved, and the air conditioner was finally installed and worked perfectly. My cousin had to cover some gaps with foam, but he used the foam that came in the air conditioner box. The instructions stated that everything had to be left in good condition, including the protective covers and box, in case it needed to be returned to the store for replacement within two weeks. I was concerned about this. Only one week of the warranty remained due to all the problems that arose during installation, but the air conditioner passed the test. I've had this star ally for eight months now without any problems. The filters have been washed a couple of times, but it's time for maintenance, and I'm going to buy the right liquid for it because I like to take care of what I have.

This appliance is my star ally because I dread going to bed in the heat of my home, combined with my hot flashes caused by hormonal imbalance. I really couldn't stand it. On the other hand, I'd like to tell you that one of the appliances I'd like to have is an air fryer. I don't know much about how it works, but I've been told that it can be used for many different recipes, especially for healthy cooking. Friends, this has been my contribution to this initiative.
