There is this word that we often say out of lack and unintentionally limit our capabilities and that is "I can never buy this." While I was younger, I used to say this a lot when I hear people spend a lot of money on things that I don't find really worth it or on things I don't even understand.
Even as a gadget lover, I did not understand why people would spend a lot of money to buy phones and all that and every time this happens, I always say, "This can't be me." But hold: In a few years, where am I now?
I used to say, I cannot buy an earpod more than 10,000 naira or a phone more than 40,000 naira but yet, my two phones alone are worth almost 10x each and for my pods, I have used two pods this year, one of 50,000 naira and the present one, which is now available for the price of 45,000 naira.
Here is the point: We would not say we cannot do these things based on our income; it is normal but that does not mean if we have the money we would not. In fact, we would spend the money on the most ridiculous of things; so far we have it and it is reproduceable.
Money itself is not really meant to be held; it is meant to be spent for our comfort, and if you have more than enough, then why would you not spend it or even give it away?
Now I am grateful for the little gadgets I have been able to gather. If I was told I would spend the amount of money I have spent on most of my gadgets a few years ago, I would have dragged the issue with the person.
So what about you, Do you have the same experience?
