Hello guys, trust your day is going well.
This portrait i drew carries a raw, expressive energy that speaks through its textures and tones. I began the piece with a charcoal pencil, carefully sketching the outlines and building up the shadows. The charcoal gave me the freedom to explore depth, form, and emotion it laid the foundation for everything else. With each stroke, I tried to bring out the quiet intensity in the man’s closed eyes, the gentle curve of his lips, and the character etched into his face.
Once the structure felt complete, I moved on to crayon, layering in bold colors to bring the drawing to life. The blue cap, marked with a bright “NY” in orange, immediately draws the eye. I wanted it to feel bold and rooted, like a symbol of identity. The orange background adds warmth and contrast, giving the piece an energetic backdrop, while the purple shirt grounds it with a calmer tone.

The mix of charcoal and crayon gave the portrait a gritty texture with bursts of color. It feels raw, a little rough around the edges, but full of personality. Every mark was intentional, and I tried to let the materials guide the emotion of the piece. It’s not just a face it’s a moment, a mood, maybe even a memory.
