Hello everyone, how are you today? About me, it's been a tiring day but fun. My family and I went to the middle of the city to process a lot of paper works that the government asks. Right now, I'm typing this update super sleepy because we stayed at the mall for too long. I brought my baby there and I thank God I didn't lose my patience when she threw a tantrum. My baby would love wandering off and put the toys she liked to the cart. She likes going up and down at the escalator, and if I say no, she yells and cry.
So, today, I went at DSWD(Department of Social Welfare and Development) and at the governor's office to ask for help for medical assistance.Like I said, my mother has a mild stroke. She has a lifetime maintenance. If we are running out of money for her medicines, we immediately go to DSWD every after six months. We xerox all the requirements. Later, they saw it on a computer that we already asked help 5 months ago, so I immediately left their office disappointed. I thought it was a success. When I got out, my brother chatted that I should wait for them until they're out from the BIR. So, I walked with the relaxing sunrays as it is around 10 in the morning.I bought pancakes from the Sari-Sari store that costs 20 pesos.
After I went to the Sari-Sari store, I ate the pancakes under the waiting shed just in front of the Junior high school campus. This is the frontal pathway of the school, namely Agusan National High School. Beside this road is the building of our governor that helps a lot of people's medical assistance and hospital bill. While I stood there eating, a man came to me with his bike. I was nervous because I was alone in that place. I had butterflies on my stomach. It was a little creepy so I immediately moved to another place with many people.
As the man followed, I went into this place. I thought it was safer because there is an old woman who was on guard at her displays. She displayed Toron for 10 pesos. Beside her place is a Sari-Sari store with many students. As I went closer, the man was gone suddenly.Lesson learned not to stand by in a shaded area and without people. Anyhow, Butuan city is a safe place. I have not heard someone from Butuan that is being snatched and killed. But I can't control my anxiety.
Then I saw a cotton candy just along the street that's covered by a transparent plastic. I planned to buy two pieces for my baby and niece. I had twenty pesos. I was excited to buy it for them, but later, I was convinced not to because the food looks unsafe. Every time I chose to buy street foods, I make sure that the vendor looks clean too.So many people were buying it and they gave it to their child.
Instead of buying the cotton candy, I chose these sticker. My baby loves playing with it.It costs 10 pesos. When I went back to the car, my baby was sleeping. I was excited to give it to her though because she loves stickers. At home, I hid the scotch tapes that she used to play. My niece was very happy and was very excited to go home. Inside me was very happy too. Even with small things, kids can be very happy. Now that I have a child, if I see toys on stores, I'd surely buy because it feels so wonderful to see her surprised. I don't wanna think about myself this time. When I never had a child, my priority was buying beauty products and good clothes. Well, it's difficult now. My interest are toys and her other important needs. It maybe a struggle to be a mother but when we become a parent, we are more inspired and encouraged to work hard and we see our purpose on earth. I felt like I was unworthy before, but nowadays, I hate to think that one day I'm gone because no one takes care of my child the way I do.
As I waiter for my brother to fetch me, I was hungry. Luckily, there is a carenderia just beside the store that sells stickers. But I couldn't wait to fill in the line because I was really hungry. The number of their customers that queue is unbelievable. Some people said that they have their tasty dishes with a cheaper prices compare to the other eateries. Personally, I just buy foods at the eateries sometimes because it's better when I cook at home and once upon a time, I bought an afritada for 100 pesos per serving. It was very tiny like only a little child can eat. We're not even sure how clean it was.
I was hungry and tired of waiting for my brother, 'till I sat down in this bakery. I like this bakeshop's loaf bread. Instead of eating at the eatery, I was planned to buy here their pandesal, but they ran out of it in the morning. This is Carmella's Bakeshop that sells pandesal around 3am until 8 am. Sometimes, I can no longer buy their pandesal at 7 am. It's because, they have a lot of customers that drink coffee paired with pandesal around those times. They have their nearby branch on our residential area, not just this. This branch is in the middle of the city.
These slices of jackfruits cost 50 pesos. It is juicy, watery and sweet. It's my favourite. We sometimes add it to a Filipino delicacy Benignet and it tastes to good. Have you tried this fruit? We call it Nangka in Bisaya, Jackfruit in English and how about in Tagalog? I have no idea what they call it. Aside from it's yummy and jelly like taste, it's seed is also delicious when we boil it for several minutes. This was our snack in the mountain before. As I was looking at this fruit, my hunger was gone. Weird but at home though, when the fridge is full, I just eat once a day after looking at the foods. When the fridge is empty, I always look for foods to eat, I become hungry easily. Maybe I don't need money to buy foods when I go out, I just stare at them.
Butuan city isn't that a metropolitan, but there are still homeless people and beggars who live at some corners of the streets. Some of them are from the indigenous group we call Badjao. According to the source, they call themselves Sama Dilaut or Sea Sama. They also call themselves as the Sea Gypsies because they don't live in one place consistently. Here in Butuan, there are a few kids that ask for money and sadly, they curse us when we cannot give. There was a time when a friend of mine just gave the boy a food, but he left cursing her because he wanted to ask a cash too. There was a time when a woman who brought a baby knocked our car's windshield to beg for money. My brother gave her, but when she saw me taking her a picture, she was angry and left. My mother's phone was also snatched when she didn't give a cash and they left cursing. I'm wondering why is the local government cannot do something about it. I mean, since I was a kid, they were already there and until this generation. Some of them didn't go to school. I wish that the government will have a chance to focus on this matter because they need changes in their lives too. There should be a free school programme for them and stable jobs so that there will be no homeless and beggars in the city. That instead of asking money from the strangers, they will learn to work hard and not to rely other people's sweat. How about you? I hope you agree. Anyway, bye for now. Thanks for passing by.
