The Power of Forgiveness [LOH #250]

Many people tend to see forgiveness in a certain light, and most of the time, people who forgive easily are termed weak. They keep asking you questions like, “Why let it go so easily? Why must you move on so fast? Why forget everything?” and so many others. People forget forgiveness isn’t necessarily for the other person but for yourself. >Do we always have to forgive? Why forgive someone who doesn't deserve forgiveness? @captive-30 ![image.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ibbtammy/23tbiE4nWtDxVSrELSn6DuzzHBwrtKaQFgGTz2cczzbjQeAVJ9BP3KhY2dcHpnRJPY9kn.jpeg) [source](https://pixabay.com/illustrations/board-flower-excuse-me-sorry-1500391/) My answer to this week’s question for the Ladies of Hive contest is Yes, Yes, and Yes! Yes, we always have to forgive not because we are the softest or the sweetest of all, but because we need to forgive for ourselves, we need to move on from the hurt without going back to that dark place again. Do you know one thing about holding grudges? It steals your peace and keeps you stuck in the past. I try not to hold grudges because I know how I feel whenever people hurt me, especially people dear to me. It’s always a struggle to see these people and be fine. The mere mention of their name brings back sad memories and makes me sad all over again. Learning how to forgive genuinely has done me more good than I give it credit for. ![image.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ibbtammy/243M158UBWfiKYAmRU6SD1NL41k4ChkbfCzQNVbPmoZChSAiEYLdNrfkn64yugreDU2Qr.jpeg) [source](https://pixabay.com/illustrations/sorry-background-regret-to-hurt-1186962/) It’s so easy to blurt out the word “I forgive you”, “It’s all in the past,” but it’s very difficult to truly forgive and forget whatever transpired between you and the person, and that brings me to the conclucion that the word “FORGIVENESS” is overflogged and abused. Forgiveness is a process, it is consciously letting go of the hurt, the triggers, and deciding not to hold anything against the other person. Gradually but progressively the pains begin to soften and the memories begin to fade. In all honesty, a lot of people do not deserve our forgiveness. The pain they cause can never be equitted to our broken hearts, but we just have to forgive them, not because we are bigger or more mature but because we prioritize our peace above anything else. ![image.jpeg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/ibbtammy/23wC9ZAReJ46zLKqgmwD5dHq2Uni636pAgyyXAF8wus8nbRUbxqoQVSHtj6KHExe4scgH.jpeg) [source](https://pixabay.com/photos/excuse-me-sorry-smiley-cute-5079442/) Never feel like a fool for choosing to forgive a person, rather see it as a superpower as not many can do it. Many can say it, but not many can actually do it. Give yourself a pat on the back for making such a heroic move and remember, you rock and will keep rising against every hurt and betrayal. Over to you guys: Do you forgive? Should we always forgive? I’ll love to read your thoughts in the comment section. All images are mine except otherwise stated. **Thanks for stopping by** **Loads of Love🥰🥰** **XOXO**
