A Saturday Out at SM City Cebu

“There were many reasons to regard Saturday as the second best day after Friday.” — R. Phillip Ritter. Weekends are truly the best days of the week, especially Saturday! With no classes and often no work for many, it's a perfect day to unwind from all the academic stress and the week-long work-life struggles. _________________________________________________________________ My mom, grandma, and I went for a mall stroll at SM City Cebu. And, it was the perfect opportunity for me to treat my grandma to a snack as well. I had told her last year that I'd treat her a pizza and I made it happen. _________________________________________________________________ After a few minutes of being inside the mall, the lights suddenly disappeared, and some flickered on and off. It felt like as if we were in a scene from a zombie apocalypse or an alien invasion. My imagination was running wild at that time. Luckily, there was a bit of sunlight coming in, perhaps from the ceiling window at the center. Despite the darkness, everyone was bustling around from side to side.  _________________________________________________________________ While we waited for the lights, we heard drums and music nearby. The music sounded very familiar. I moved closer and saw dancers in colorful costumes performing. It felt like they were there to entertain us during the wait. Their lively moves and the music reminded me that the Sinulog Festival in Cebu is just around the corner. _________________________________________________________________ As I was heading back to where my mom and grandma were, I also spotted displays of Sinulog Merchandise- shirts, mugs, and tote bags - near the performers. The vibrant spirit of Sinulog was evident just by looking at these displays.  The electricity took more than 10 minutes to come back, and everyone returned to their activities happily. Even though it is already January, the Christmas lights were still shining in the mall, keeping the holiday spirit alive. It's typical for Filipinos to set up Christmas decorations months before the actual day and keep them up for months afterward.  After browsing, my grandma told us that we should just buy for a cheaper reading glasses as they will be used temporarily. She still needs to get her eyes checked by a specialist. Considering her request, we went to the SM Store to buy her a pair of reading glasses.  Walking around the mall had made us hungry, so we opted for Greenwich as our choice spot.  While waiting for our order, we decided to take some pictures, of course. _________________________________________________________________ After a few minutes, our order was served, and we enjoyed and filled our hungry tummies.  Following that, we opted to purchase chicharon and mixed fruits. SM Mall is an ideal spot for buying chicharon, with numerous stalls offering different sizes and prices. In fact, the mall serves as a one-stop-shop for all your needs. They live up to its tagline: "We've got it all for you!".   After purchasing essential items at Watsons, we took a moment to sit on the stairs near the mall's entrance and exit, giving our legs and feet a well-deserved rest from all the walking.  Before we decided to go home, we took a bit more time to relax. At that moment, I couldn't help but notice the cute little train making its turns and the familiar sound of its bell. It brought back memories of when I used to ride this train in my younger days. _________________________________________________________________ Although what we did was mostly browsing and eating, the experience was still fun. We had a girl trio mall experience at SM City Cebu, and I hope that we'll get to explore more and have fun together this year! ----------------------------------------------------------------- I hope you all enjoy your weekends.
