Walk of Hope update : Our Livelihood's Bamboo Harvesting and Furniture Making in Tan-awan, Kabankalan City, Philippines

@immarojas · 2018-12-03 07:27 · busy

With the bamboo furniture and fixture orders piling up, @flabbergast-art is on the roll to finish a bit of furnitures prior to his travel to Vigan City, Ilocos Sur next week, where he is from originally in Northern Philippines. Since we are focused with our project in Tan-awan, there's nothing planned for us to do once he gets to Vigan, but knowing him and his contacts, an event is not farfetched. But this will depend on my schedule also but we will see.

Down from the mountains last weekend, he sent me loads of photos to share. So for now, let me show you some of our activities from @walkofhope in Tan-awan.

With what funds we have as we were getting scrap bamboo from a nearby construction site, we were able to harvest bamboos locally to have enough materials for the number of bamboo products that's been ordered for the bamboo restaurant in Kabankalan City and the church in Tan-awan.

Previous funds were used to buy tools as we really need to produce quality products. This to show the Department of Tourism & Industry, together with the Department of Science & Technology to present the Tan-awanons the necessary tools for the continuity and sustainability of this livelihood in Tan-awan for the province of Negros Occidental.

Once this is functional, only then will @walkofhope leave for another community. As the local government is involved with this tour, from what I have gathered, there will be another community in Negros Province before going to another island.

We would like to thank everyone's support for our projects, most especially to @pennsif and his @adollaraday team.

Steemit isn't over till every Steemian says so. And @walkofhope will keep on till we say otherwise. All liquid payouts will be sent to our @walkofhope account. Cheers!
