Getting to know new places is a feeling that excites me, so recommending them, so that other people with the same hobby can enjoy them, also excites me a lot. Today I show you my tour and impressions when visiting the work dedicated to the Corps of Engineers of the Exto, which refers in its plaque to have been erected in the year 1843, and made with marble from the Isle of Pines.
For those who do not know it, I tell you that the Isle of Pines is the current Isle of Youth; it is considered a special municipality of Cuba and occupies the fifth place in territorial extension in our archipelago of the Greater Antilles. It is characterized for having large reserves of marble, and also of a remarkable quality and beauty, which increases the artistic value of this work.

Hoy les muestro mi recorrido e impresiones al visitar la obra dedicada a El cuerpo de ingenieros del Exto, la cual refiere en su tarja haber sido erigida en el año 1843, y elaborada con mármol de la Isla de Pinos.
Para los que no lo conocen, les cuento que la Isla de Pinos es la actual Isla de la Juventud; es considerada un municipio especial de Cuba y ocupa el quinto puesto en extensión territorial en nuestro archipiélago de las Antillas Mayores. Esta se caracteriza por tener grandes reservas de mármol, y además de una calidad y belleza notable, lo que incrementa el valor artístico de esta obra.*
The work dedicated to the Corps of Engineers has an excellent location, on one of its sides is the Padre Félix Varela Cultural Center, which has among its missions the promotion of cultural activities and the creation of enriching spaces for debate in society. It is also accompanied by the park and monument dedicated to the figure of José de la Luz y Caballero; and the popular Cespedes La Maestranza Park.
As this is an area characterized by intense tourist activity, very close to it is located a parking area where you can find an interesting variety of classic cars that make tours of the city. But what surprised me the most was to find a carriage guided by horses, which, although they can be frequent in the historic center of the city, it is no longer so common for me to see this type of carriages.
> *La obra dedicada a El cuerpo de ingenieros tiene una ubicación excelente, en uno de sus laterales se encuentra el Centro cultural Padre Félix Varela, que tiene entre sus misiones la promoción de las actividades culturales y crear espacios de debate enriquecedores en la sociedad. También le acompaña el parque y monumento dedicado a la figura de José de la Luz y Caballero; y el popular parque Cespedes La Maestranza.
Como es esta un área caraterizada por una intensa actividad turística, muy cerca de ella se localiza una zona de parqueo donde se pueden encontrar una interesante variedad de autos clásicos que realizan recorridos por la ciudad. Pero lo que más me sorprendió fue encontrar un coche guiado por caballos, que, aunque se pueden ser frecuentes en el centro histórico de la ciudad, ya no es tan común para mí ver este tipo de carruajes.*
This work is surrounded by a pleasant environment because it is protected by the shade of the leafy trees that accompany it, besides being surrounded by a very well planted flower bed. The street is cobblestone, preserving the magic of another era that gives this type of design. The piece has the shape of a fountain, although it is not currently in operation. In addition, both front and back, it has the same structural design.
Thanks to its cozy atmosphere, and the breeze that can be felt by the proximity to the Malecón, this place became for me an oasis of rest, after a long walk under the intense sun of Cuba in the summer stage that we are currently living.
> *Esta obra esta rodeada de un ambiente agradable porque está protegida por la sombra de los árboles frondosos que la acompañan, además de estar circundada por un cantero muy bien sembrado. La calle es empedrada, conservando la magia de otra época que le otorga este tipo de diseño. La pieza tiene forma de fuente, aunque actualmente no está en funcionamiento. Además, tanto por su parte frontal como reversa, posee el mismo diseño estructural.
Gracias a su ambiente acogedor, y la brisa que se puede sentir por la cercanía al Malecón, este sitio devino para mí en un oasis de descanso, luego de una larga caminata baja el intenso sol de Cuba en la etapa estival que actualmente vivimos.*
From my point of view, the most interesting thing about this work of art is that it is located in Old Havana, right in the area where the Real Maestranza de la Artillería used to be located, whose purpose in its time was to supply artillery pieces to all the regions of Spain. The remains of cannons found after the archaeological process of excavations carried out in the area are exposed next to it.
> *Desde mi percepción, lo más interesante de esta obra es que está ubicada en la Habana Vieja, justo en el área donde antiguamente se encontraba la Real Maestranza de la Artillería, que tuvo como objetivo en su época, abastecer de piezas de artillería a todas las regiones de España. O sea, que a su lado se encuentran expuestos los restos de cañones encontrados luego del proceso arqueológico de excavaciones realizado en el área.*
Undoubtedly, the work dedicated to the Corps of Engineers is another of the great spaces that Havana treasures for lovers of travel, history and new experiences.
