The source that welcomes you [eng/spa]

One of the most beautiful spaces in the city of Havana is Fifth Avenue. It is full of attractions that turn a tour that may seem simple into a pleasant experience. From the moment you go through the tunnel, you are greeted by one of its most striking pieces, known as the Fountain of the Americas, so today I share with you this work and some of the elements that surround it. The fountain was one of the first works of this artery, and its name is related to the fact that previously, the avenue was called Avenue of the Americas. The creators who gave life to this set were the North American architect John Wilson and the Italian sculptor Pietro Manfred. It is made of white marble, and its architectural design is composed of four muses holding oysters, from which water is emitted from the fountain.

> *Uno de los espacios más bonitos que tiene la ciudad de La Habana es la Quinta Avenida. Esta está llena de atractivos que convierten un recorrido que puede parecer simple, en una agradable experiencia. Desde que se atraviesa el túnel, te recibe una de sus piezas más llamativas, conocida como la Fuente de las Américas, así que hoy les comparto esta obra y algunos de elementos que la rodean. La fuente fue una de las primeras obras de esta arteria, y su nombre está relacionado con el hecho de que anteriormente, la avenida era llamada Avenida de las Américas. Los creadores que dieron vida a este conjunto fueron el arquitecto norteamericano John Wilson y el escultor italiano Pietro Manfred. Este está elaborado en mármol blanco, y su diseño arquitectónico está compuesto por cuatro musas que sostienen unas ostras, de las que se emite el agua que brota de la fuente.*

The Fountain of the Americas also has the Cuban coat of arms, which is one of the most representative symbols of the island. Below it you can read the word Miramar, which is the name of the elegant neighborhood that also has its starting point in that place. I always remember the first time I visited this area, where the first element that caught my attention was the fountain. On that occasion I passed by in a car and fell in love with this area, which by the way, I take this opportunity to tell you that as this is an open road, vehicles always move at high speed because the avenue has regulations regarding minimum traffic limits. Since my first time there, I decided to walk along it, to enjoy every detail in more detail.

> *La fuente de las Américas también posee el escudo cubano, que es uno de los símbolos más representativos de la isla. Debajo de este se puede leer la palabra Miramar, que es el nombre del elegante vecindario que tiene también tiene su punto de partida en ese lugar. Esta área me resulta muy agradable, siempre recuerdo la primera vez que la recorrí, donde el primer elemento que captó mi atención fue la fuente. En esa ocasión pasé en un auto y quedé enamorada de esta zona, que por cierto, aprovecho para decirles que como esta es una vía expedita, los vehículos siempre se desplazan a gran velocidad porque la avenida posee regulaciones con respecto a límites mínimos de circulación. A partir de mi primera vez allí, me propuse recorrerla a pie, para disfrutar con más detenimiento de cada detalle.*

Very close to the fountain, and also forming part of the immense Fifth Street, you can find one of the works of Cuban sculptor Alexis Leyva, known as Kcho. These have a presence throughout the avenue, and offer a unique touch of distinction. This particular work, which begins a whole collection, has the sea as its center of attention. It shows three identical boats, arranged symmetrically, with several oars in the center that seem to divide the avenue into two parts. I have always admired Kcho's work, for his versatility and his ability to make art out of the simple.

> *Muy cerca de la fuente, y formando también parte de la inmensa calle Quinta, se puede encontrar una de las obras del escultor cubano Alexis Leyva, conocido como Kcho. Estas tienen presencia en toda la avenida, y le ofrecen un toque de distinción único. Esta obra en particular, que da inicio a toda una colección, tiene el mar como centro de atención. En ella se muestran tres botes idénticos, dispuestos en forma simétrica, que en el centro poseen varios remos que parecen dividir la avenida en dos partes. Siempre he admirado la obra de Kcho, por su versatilidad y su capacidad de hacer arte de lo sencillo.*

Another of the places I recommend in this area is the Casa de las Tejas Verdes, which you will agree with me that its facade is simply amazing. This house treasures a very interesting history and an architecture that one cannot forget. It currently serves as the Center for the Promotion of Modern and Contemporary Architecture, and is one of the places I recommend visiting in the Cuban capital.

> *Otro de los lugares que recomiendo en esta zona es la Casa de las Tejas Verdes, que coincidirán conmigo que su fachada ya es sencillamente sorprendente. Esta casa atesora una historia muy interesante y una arquitectura de las que uno no logra olvidar. Actualmente esta funciona como Centro Promotor para la Arquitectura Moderna y Contemporánea, y es de los lugares que recomiendo visitar en la capital cubana.*
