Hello everyone, there are many anime where the main setting is high school or the student environment in any high school, at any level, any kind, sometimes even being the most acclaimed. But among them, there is one that managed to stand out in its time, not only because it was set in this environment, but because with its premise and opening it managed to captivate an entire audience, especially those who knew it from the anime and manga. It managed to convey what can go through the mind of a student when they have social anxiety; that's why today I'll talk a little about "Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!", or better known as "Watamote". >Hola a todos, muchos son los animes donde el escenario principal es la secundaria o el entorno estudiantil en cualquier secundaria, cualquier escala, cualquiera, siendo incluso los más aclamados en algunas ocasiones, pero entre eso hay uno que logró destacar en su tiempo, no solo porque fuera en este ambiente, tiempo, sino porque con su premisa y opening lograron engañar a todo un público espectante especialmente para los que lo conocieron en anime y para los de manga, lograba dar a entender lo que puede pasar por la cabeza de un estudiante cuando este tiene pánico social; por eso hoy les hablaré un poco de "Watashi ga Motenai no wa Dō Kangaetemo Omaera ga Warui!", o mejor conocido como "Watamote". The story follows Tomoko Kuroki, a high school girl who struggles with social interaction and initially seems to be focused on becoming popular. Instead, it explores how Tomoko's mind becomes so twisted and how she sometimes gives in to impulses to try and experience typical high school experiences. She's a different kind of student protagonist, as her fear of socializing makes her practically invisible to others, and in other instances, she displays all the desperation she feels when trying to open herself up to the world without knowing exactly what to do. >El tema con este anime es que, al ser con una categoría de comedia, recuentos de la vida, escolar y humor negro, no busca dar a entender que será el típico anime tranquilo con desarrollo de personaje, sino cómo la mente de Tomoko llega a ser tan retorcida y a veces dejarse llevar por muchos impulsos para tratar de vivir experiencias típicas de un adolescente de preparatorio, siendo así una protagonista estudiante distinta del estándar común, pues su pánico a socializar la lleva a ser prácticamente invisible ante los demás y, en otros casos, mostrar toda la desesperación que puede tener al querer abrirse al mundo sin saber concretamente qué hacer. This often leads her to find herself in inappropriate and out-of-place situations, sometimes even revealing a fanaticism for the perversion she seeks. Although the goal is presented as being popular, the truth is that Tomoko really wants to be seen as she is, revealing the true root of her desire: fear or the inability to show herself as she truly is. From the beginning, she makes it clear that she's not a normal girl, and her real fear is being judged. The more she tries to connect with people, the more her tastes make her seem bizarre. >A medida que avanza la historia, vemos también cómo el humor negro y fantasioso es de las características principales que predominan, y que también forman parte de la mentalidad de Tomoko, por lo que en más de una ocasión estará en medio de momentos fuera de tono y lugar, también mostrando en algunas ocasiones el fanatismo por esa perversión que busca llegar. A pesar de que se nos presenta que el objetivo es ser popular, la verdad es que realmente Tomoko quiere ser vista como es, topándonos con la verdadera raíz, la cual es el miedo o la limitación a mostrarse como es, pues ella desde un principio nos da a entender que no es una chica normal y el real miedo es ser juzgada, pues sus gustos, mientras más busca formas de conectar con las personas, la hacen ver incluso bizarra. Likewise, the opening theme, which initially misled those who first saw the anime, was so energetic that many assumed a different plot. However, upon seeing the story, we realize that it's primarily about Tomoko's mind, from her imagination and how she sees herself to her constant struggle to be heard. Once we understand this, we see the opening in a new light, and I must say, its music is incredibly catchy. >Algo que me gusta es que tiene muchas referencias a otros animes, pero que están adaptadas a la situación de Tomoko, llegando a ser una variable incluso cómica. Así mismo, el tema que llegó a "engañar" a quienes conocieron la primicia de esta historia como anime, que fue su opening, siendo tan cargado de energía que muchos llegaron a pensar una trama distinta; sin embargo, al ver la historia, nos fijamos que este es más que todo la mente de Tomoko, desde su imaginación y cómo se ve a sí misma hasta su constante descontrol buscando ser escuchada, por lo que una vez entendido eso, vemos con otros ojos el opening, del cual debo decir que su música es muy pegadiza. Even today, its manga is still ongoing, showing significant progress in the story. This particular anime particularly caught my attention, thanks to its opening theme, music, and my empathy with Tomoko. It's one of my favorites that evokes memories just by watching it, so I definitely recommend it to those looking for something a little different and, in some ways, realistic in its portrayal of inner fears.
