Today I came to you with a post. Today I wanted to make a different post so I was looking for a different community so that I could post there and after searching I found it. I am going to post a community where you can give your opinion only on books. You can tell me about how the book is and its story here. The name of my book is The Science of Can and Can’t. This book is written by Chiara Marletto and this book was published in 2021. You can read this book if you want. I hope you will like today's post.
Book Story
The author describes the shortcomings of classical physics in the first part of the book. Newton Einstein or quantum mechanics tell how nature behaves in a mathematical formula but none of them says that anything is impossible. The Constructor Theory states that we ought to redesign the fundamental language used in science to write our own way that we could effortlessly tell whether something is possible or not. Then the author provides some examples so to speak English.when an egg is broken it can no longer be pieced back together into what it once was and this is an impossible process. Again information can be copied but some types of quantum information cannot be fully copied this also amounts to a restriction.
The author presents the role of this theory in understanding the bigger picture of what nature is all about when elaborating on the limitations of this theory. Marletto uses technological and biological examples in the middle of the story. According to him, DNA is some sort of constructor which is capable of replicating itself and thereby aids the continuation of the process of life. By using such an example he shows that the laws of physics and the advancement of life are not exempted of such principles.
A great section of the book is Counterfactuals or what if this did not happen type questions. In Constructor Theory these are indeed scientifically valid and significant questions since by getting answers to them we learn more about the possibilities and constraints that nature falls under. Finally the author is hoping that the future science could be able to utilize this theory by playing a significant roleFI resolving the mysteries of artificial intelligence quantum computers and how the universe was formed. According to him science does not only explain the past but it is also an instrument of generating possibilities in the future.
My Explanation
Science of Can and Can t is a special scientific book and is also a book which we were taught to think differently by adding one step further than the common science about science of can and about science of can t developed by physicist Chiara Marletto. The novel is founded in a newer theory termed Constructor Theory. According to this theory the science language should not be curbed to understand and explain what has been or can be but clearly crossed the boundaries of whether possible or impossible. Marletto also demonstrates the relation of this theory not only to the physics but also to biology and technology. He calls DNA a constructor. that can replicate itself and allows sustaining the stream of life. Here is one of the peculiarities of the book which the author demonstrates that the natural laws traced by which the life is developed and by which the technology goes on are similar to each other fundamentally.
One of the brightest assets of the book is the idea of Counterfactuals. This is the meaning of What would have become of this had it not occurred that kind of thing. Constructivism According to Constructed Theory these thoughts are or can be significant not only to philosophy but also to scientific inquiry. Since they give us an insight into what is possible or not. The book is smart in a language sense and comprehensible. Along with scientific explanations Marletto dwells on the topics of philosophy the information theory and the future of the universe. Nonetheless there are areas that are not easy to read to non specialist readers particularly readers who lack knowledge in physics. Nonetheless the writer makes it easier by using as many instances as possible and this is a major advantage. This is the best aspect of the book because instead of describing science as a means to explain what has happened in the past the book portrays science as one of the means to create what can be done in the future. It stimulates a reader to start thinking differently to doubt the contours of what is possible and what is impossible.
