Hello culture lovers and historians, it's always said that a man who forget his history, has no future and a man without history, his future is at stake. I love #Crossculture because it's always a place on Hive Blockchain to know more about different cultures of the world. Today is going to be an exciting one as I'm going to talk about two great independent people of different states with almost culture as a result of their originality.
There are always this quest about Uruan people and Efik People, many to tends to ask about the exact relationship between Uruan and Efik. It's only those who has lived among both people knows the signs or can explicitly tell became, these people sing the same songs, probably beat the same Ekpe Drums, then dance the same Ekombi, perform the same Nyok, Àkàtà, Etambembe etc. History has it that Efik walked out of Uruan with luggage, they migrated from Uruan when Uruan which was a house had internal trouble which could be related to religious trouble, Uruan held a strong hold to Ataakpō that's their ancestral deity" with Anansa as her spiritual circle.
This religious belief brought problem between these two friends when the Uruan asked Efik ancestors to honour Ataakpō which they bluntly refused, this led to civil war, just after break happened. Another incident that brought that the separation was the believe that the Efik held the practice of burying the living with the dead, If a husband died, his wife, child or stranger might have been honoured with an early grave too But the Uruan people, who was known for sense and restraint, couldn’t allow such a thing to grow roots in their land since the Efik were only strangers but living in Uruan land or with Uruan people, so anyone who were still reluctant in keeping such practice or tradition were asked to leave, that was how the Efik carved their separate path.
It came another famous war of axe known as Ekong Abasi awàn this happened when Uruan woman lent an axe to her Efik friend but suddenly the axe broke, she couldn't apologize to Uruan woman friend rather she poured insults on her, so the Uruan woman, out of anger, ran home to her husband who stood up for her, then like the Efik woman’s husband joined in, suddenly, it became an entire families and kindreds fight, words turned into weapons, and the Uruan and Efik finally went their separate ways.
Here lies the matter of where they go? Uruan people are in Akwa Ibom State while Efik are in Cross River State of Nigeria just before then, Uruan crossed to Akwa Akpa which is known today as Akwa Akpa Uruan that's Great Sea of Uruan, not ocean but river. Till today, Uruan has a great place in Efik land of Cross River State known as Efiom Ekpo a towering name in Efik history from Creek Town, it's known to be Uruan Esit Edik that's it was born of Uruan blood. So when the Efik finally left Uruan to their own land, an Uruan man known as Ekpo Ibanga Nkanta led them.
