Eso de visitar las Ferias locales está divertido. Hace que siga explorando cómo va el **sector tejido** en cuanto a **materia prima para mercado nacional**... A simple vista parece algo común encontrar hilos de alta calidad para tejedores nacionales. Pero, creo que eso no es cierto. Por eso, hoy te contaré algunas **curiosidades del mercado nacional de hilos naturales** (animal y vegetal), de ¿dónde vienen? y la importancia de ir a este tipo de Ferias locales. >*Visiting local fairs is fun. It keeps me exploring how the **weaving sector** is doing in terms of **raw materials for the domestic market**... At first glance, it seems common to find high-quality yarns for domestic weavers. But I don't think that's true.* >*So today, I'm going to tell you some interesting **curiosities about the national market for natural yarns** (animal and vegetable), where they come from, and the importance of going to these types of local fairs.* ---------------------------- ---------------------------- ### ¡Hamuy! ### *Let's go!*  *Welcome Expo Agraria, The fair that connects the field to your table.* **La Feria que conecta el campo con tú mesa**. Con esta Feria, la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina (UNALM), retoma esa tradición de unir a gente del campo con los compradores de la ciudad, como lo hacía en épocas de antaño. Para mí lo logró, porque hubo de todo. Desde productos que crecen en las alturas hasta los productos de gente que vive en el mismo distrito de La Molina. Me encantó ver materias primas como: **el cushuro, palta, papas nativas, flores exóticas, coco, hilos de alpaca y vicuña**... hasta productos elaborados como: **Aceite de palta, maca en polvo, café, cacao, ponchos, guantes y chompas tejidas con alpaca**. Y el sector comida. >*The Fair that connects the field to your table. With this Fair, the National Agrarian University of La Molina (UNALM) revives the tradition of bringing together people from the field with buyers from the city, as was done in times gone by.* >*For me, it succeeded because it had everything. From products that grow at high altitudes to products made by people who live in the same district of La Molina. I loved seeing raw materials such as: **Cushuro, avocado, native potatoes, exotic flowers, coconut, alpaca and vicuña yarns**... even processed products such as: **avocado oil, maca powder, coffee, cocoa, ponchos, mittens, and sweaters knitted with alpaca wool**. And the food sector*  Aquí mencionaré 3 tipos de hilados: Vicuña (Ayacucho). Alpaca (Cusco y Puno) y Ceibo (Piura). Todos son 100% puros, no hay mezclas. Aunque los teñidos si fueron hechos con tintes de colores naturales. >*Here I will mention 3 types of yarn: vicuña (Ayacucho), alpaca (Cusco and Puno) and ceibo (Piura). All are 100% pure, with no blends. However, the dyed yarns were made using natural dyes.* ### VICUÑA ###  *El hilo más cotizado del mundo || The most valued yarn in the world* **La vicuña** desde lejos fue la que sorprendió a muchos. Con decirte que su precio era de 1g = 1 USD. No me preguntes ¿por qué?, solo diré que al vivir este animal en **zonas del altiplano** (desde los 3000 msnm), su pelo es **recontra abrigador** y **fresco durante el verano**... Ya quisiera vestir uno de esos ponchos y andar en la Puna junto a las vicuñas, jaja. >*The vicuña was the one that surprised many from afar. Suffice it to say that its price was 1g = 1 USD. Don't ask me why, I'll just say that since this animal lives in **highland areas** (above 3,000 meters above sea level), its fur is **extremely warm** and **cool during the summer**... I'd love to wear one of those ponchos and walk around the Puna with the vicuñas, jaja.* ### ALPACA ###  *¿Alguien dijo: Alpaca? || Did someone say alpaca?* **La Alpaca** de por sí es de mis favoritas. Me alegró esta vez conversar con las tejedoras y conocer mas de su cultura. La **gama de colores naturales** que tienen es impresionante. Las madejas que estaban teñidas si eran notorias porque era verdes, celestes y rosado con chispitas, jaja. De todas maneras, todos sus teñidos lo hacían con tinturas naturales como la Cochinilla y otras plantas de la zona. Los precios de las madejas (100g) estaban entre 25 y 55 PEN = 7 y 15.6 USD. >***Alpaca** is one of my favorites. I was happy to talk with the weavers this time and learn more about their culture. The **game of natural colors** they have is amazing. The dyed skeins stood out because they were green, light blue, and pink with sparkles, jaja. In any case, all of their dyeing was done with natural dyes such as cochineal and other plants from the area. The prices of the yarns (100g) ranged from 25 to 55 PEN = 7 to 15.6 USD.* ### CEIBO ###   *Otra opción de hilo vegetal || Another option for vegetable yarn* Por estos meses ví un video sobre este nuevo tipo de hilado **el Ceibo**. Lo que llamó mi atención (además de que se puede tejer muñecos, jaja) fue que la misma planta también proporcionaba el **relleno natural** para los muñecos (almohadas y cojines). El precio de la madeja (100g) estaba en 60 PEN = 17 USD. Aquí, también ofrecían **productos elaborados como zapatillas, chalinas y muñecos**. Sin duda aún falta más investigación y difusión sobre los beneficios de la planta del Ceibo. >*A few months ago, I saw a video about this new type of yarn called **Ceibo**. What caught my attention (besides the fact that you can weave dolls with it, jaja) was that the same plant also provided **natural filling** for the dolls (pillows and cushions). The price of a yarn (100g) was 60 PEN = 17 USD. Here, they also offered finished **products such as slippers, scarves and dolls**. Undoubtedly, more research and diffusion about the benefits of the Ceibo plant is still needed.* ¡Y eso es todo!
