Reflection on the latest DAO proposal and vote

First starts After a long while of being on hive (in fact from its inception) I have decided to post something on the platform. A lot of firsts actually at least for me - though I would be remiss if id say the thought didn't come across my mind on numerous other occasions. First post and first ever proposal. A task daunting at first, full of self doubt (hard to put oneself out there) for as it will later be reveled all the wrong reasons. And yet here we are. The process of it not difficult and off putting as most would think (myself including). I encourage you to give it a try. After all, remember, life is like a box of chocolates.

First ever proposal I heard a lot of talk on various issues in tavern in hive posts, X, on YouTube videos and podcasts, but sadly seen no actions taken while resentments seams to grow. I don't particularly like that, when I well know there is a better way possible. And we well should strive to do our best, now and in the future. Some here are perhaps familiar with the Tenth man Rule? And so I decided to act on it and put forth a proposal. Was perhaps told not to do so - I was, was I told to get support - I was, was I told it will fail - I was. But here I ask you in all seriousness what is the purpose of proposals that have all the necessary votes. Isn't a proposal where people can state their case for and against, find actionable solutions and work towards possible changes that need to observed and implemented. And I did, but I opted to do so in a fair and non-intrusive way. Mindful of other peoples time, thoughts and ideas. Without calling people out for their stance or their vote, but rather being inclusive and respectful of it. Hopefully my replies, and my tavern presence this days can attest to that.

The end tally While the proposal failed, I'm not sure I'm entirely dissatisfied. As nobody else should be. I'm here to thank every single person that voted, be it for or against, that put forth his/her thoughts, ideas and host of possible solutions going forward. Mine was a basic premise how to make things more fun, more inclusive and more fair to a variety of players in our ecosystem. Every player matters. That was the leading purpose of it. That being said the team has more valid empirical and statistical data to quantify what is my understanding of the subject matter and if they wish to ultimately pursue this matter forward on its possible merit. The support for it would in my humble opinion at least deserve an in-depth look into it. If those are not arguments worthy of consideration, then I don't know what is. Id like to think that we didn't loose, we were only told to do better. And isn't this the whole purpose in the end if we look to better our experiences and our product.

Further quick observations What I realized is that first impressions matter and edits might not have the desired effect. Since most people don't look at them after the fact. I would strongly suggest to all to revisit it at least for the duration of the life of the pre/proposal. Furthermore what I personally found off putting was a phrase I kept running in - the old system was bad. Some took the time to elaborate, while sadly most didn't. My stance wasn't so much about if good or bad, I wanted to hear more. As I think the clash of well thought arguments can present a path forward to the solutions with broader support. And one more thing - for the entirety of the proposal I got zero dm's, only replies when I was the first to initiate talks with others. And to be truthful they were all kind enough to reply. Or perhaps I'm just a big, bad OG wolf. Also entirely possible.

Going forward (personally) Are you now well rid of me? Think again, think, harder. Perhaps I have more to say about subjects that I came to think about along the way (for a while in fact). Dao voting. What can we as a DAO do now, without relaying on possible alt season that is well out of our purview (they come or they don't, but one fact always remains, there is always time in-between). Such topics as crypto adoption, integration and taxation. AI, witch seams to be a hot button topics of late. Full disclosure - while preparing the text of my closing remarks and of proposal I only relied on myself. (excluding spell checker). The downfall of social media. Only to mention a few that peak my interest this days. Nothing big, just the usual stuff.

Sincerely Inobody
