Wraithvine's cat, Lilbit, climbs into the lap of a youngling who is, sadly, very allergic to cats. When the youngster starts to have a severe reaction, the furball is quickly sent to the tower, the child's symptoms are treated, and a special band is given to the child so this doesn't happen again. It was, after all, accidental. Even the parental didn't realize it had gotten this severe. -- Lessons
Cats are magnetically attracted to people who are allergic to them. Mostly because Human for "go away" is Cat for "come on over, let's be friends!" It's nobody's fault that the miscommunication is common. People and cats will act on their first instinct.
So it was when Lilbit helped herself to the lap of a small child who almost immediately broke out in hives.
Wraithvine noticed very soon after, ushering hir cat into hir portable tower for safety and quickly running a purifying spell on the air in the vicinity. At least the sneezing and gasping stopped. Another splash of magic and the hives began to fade as the child's distress eased.
"Terribly sorry about that," said Wraithvine. "Has it always been this bad?"
Their father, who had rummaging in a big bag for a remedy, babbled, "It's never been this bad before the salve was supposed to improve things, but it's been so long, I can't find it..." He started methodically unpacking the bag. "Where is it, where is it?"
"Been a while since you used it last?" said Wraithvine.
"Of course. We prefer to avoid cats."
"Hm," said Wraithvine. "I'll see what I can do." Ze opened up the door to hir tower, dashing within to begin inventing as fast as ze could. There were similar experiments involving protection spells, others involving allergic maladies, many involving artificery. Wraithvine may be hurried to put them all into one object, but ze wasn't reckless. With millennia of experience ze knew well what ze was doing.
It looked like a silver bracelet, and bore engraved runes, some of them with red enamel sealed into them.
Wraithvine returned with the resulting silver chain. "This should protect from the malady, and allow for acclimatisation to the cause," Wraithvine announced, gifting it to the child. "Do you want to test it?"
A nod, a glint of chain on a small wrist, and a child could pet a cat without any further fear.
