It is no secret that I hate Bollywood products. From unbearable stories like Heropantis, Baaghis to unfunny Shehzadas and ligers, to insulting Adipurush and OMGs. I hated all of that. But my commentary was always on the product. The Movies, the stories, the songs and the overall experience. Never about the actors or the people behind it. In fact, I appreciate them for their effort, no matter how little or insignificant that may be to the final product. But today I am not going to talk about any movie. In fact, I haven’t seen one in the last couple of weeks. Today I am going to talk about these actors, particularly. And all of this has to do with the terrorist attack in Pahalgham last month. India did what needed to be done by taking out the terrorist camps, which hurt Pakistan and led to a military clash. I am not going to compare the military power, the history that led to this moment or comment on how Pakistan lost its Airbases, asked for a ceasefire and is still trying to sneak in drones. If you still want to know, all I am going to say is ‘It's all over social media’.
But you know who wasn't on social media. And you know where I am going with this. Many prominent Bollywood figures kept mum throughout this whole chain of events. Not all of the celebrities were mute few spoke. Now, before you ask, does it matter what an A-list celebrity like Amitabh Bachchan, SRK, Salman Khan, Amir Khan, have to say about condemning the attacks or appreciating the efforts of the Indian Armed Forces dealing with Pakistan's attempts? It doesn't really. The Indian Armed Forces are known for their bravery, professionalism and commitment to the country. They don’t need a pat on their back from a bunch of actors who do the roleplay/dress-up of the Indian Armed Forces in movies. What surprises me is that many who take it to Social media platforms at the hint of something have taken a backstep and played dumb. Some even deleted their post after posting. People who cry about international conflict and matters were dumbfounded at the Pahalgam attack. I have taken names in this post, but it's not just these handful of actors; this applies to all the big sports persons, Influencers, YouTubers, business tycoons, and who’s who. I guess what I am trying to say is, Support the country you live in, or Live in the country you support! [borrowed this line from @pravesh0 ]
