“Ok!! Now the light is blinking.” My wife announced the status of the internet from the hall. “Which one?” “All are. It should work now, right?” She said, what she meant was I dont have time for this. “I hope so. I have a call in about 30 minutes.” I replied while trying to connect with the office network. “Working? Or Not?” “Nope, Still showing ‘Connected, No Internet’. Did you turn it off and On as I explained?” “I did exactly as you explained, IT'S A STUPID SWITCH”. She is shouting from the hall. “Arey!! I am just making sure.” “Fine, make sure by yourself. I have other things to do.” and she left to the kitchen. “Aye!! What did I do?” I was already frustrated beyond. I unplugged the laptop and carried it to the hallway, where the WiFi router was mounted over the wall. I restarted the setup again, and waited for the system to connect with the internet. Still no success. I tried connecting my phone with WiFi and the internets is working on my phone. The logical conclusion, the WiFi is working; issue lies with my Laptop. I shifted my focus from the Router to the Laptop.
I tried forget Network option and retried connecting again by entering the password. No Success. I checked the WiFi adapter settings. Everything looks fine. The only thing left was to check with an Ethernet cable. I haven't seen one in a long time. I went to the Kitchen to check the top shelf where I usually keep my Stuff. Tool box, I haven't touched in years, and a Mickey Mouse Ja,r I forgot what was in it. I got desparate and started searching for cable in the Masala cabinets.
“Disturb mat karo.” [Eng Trans. - Do not disturb, Go] she said as she was watching some nonsense reality show on her new Phone. It irritated me a little that she is able to connect with the Internet for her dumb show, but I who has a presentation to cover, is struggling. Under pressure, I started looking around under the vessels and utensils. “What do you want, Baba!!? “Ethernet Cable,” I replied, hoping that she would help me with it. “And you think it's under a DosaPan?” “I don't know. It could be. Don't remember where I kept it.” Replied, again hoping that she would guide me to the cable. “Check TV, you only connected it 3months back.” “Ah!! Yes..” I ran back to the hall again. Quickly yanking out the cable from the back of the TV and connecting it to my Laptop. A small Ethernet connection setting Icon appeared on my Windows icon tray. Hoping that this will get me through the call, Is a small message appears on the bottom right screen. No internet. I slammed the table in frustration.
“Kya Hua?” [Eng Trans. - What happened] she came running from the kitchen. “Laptop isn't working. And demo is few minutes and this thing is not working.” I replied. “But WiFi was the problem, naa?” “Its working for other devices, Only my laptop isn't getting connected..” “No, not working for me. I am using my mobile data..” “No, Wait..” I checked my phone, where I forgot to turn off the mobile data. “Theek hain, Let check it up later. I have a meeting to attend.” I went inside the bedroom. Connected the Hotspot. And clicked the join meeting link, Right on time. Shared my screen and started the presentation. Right then, a small message pops up. AV update completed. Proceed with restart.. With a timer.. 9, 8, 7.. I panicked and started hitting the Esc and Delete keys. And suddenly I was staring at a blank screen with my reflection on it.
