HIVE LAYOUT RANT.

Here’s my issue with Hive layout. The eye is used to moving on mobile, and that’s the way it’s going to be for the foreseeable future. Reading that far across the screen is not as comfortable. There is no balance in the visual weight of the block of text. Additionally, when you have the ability to scroll you can actually move the next block quickly into your field of view while processing the previous block, and go back if need be. The eye/mind is able to capture the sentence without moving from word to word and I believe more than a single line if the block is relatively narrow. Try it for yourself. You can choose to read every word or you can relax that mental feature and start picking up on blocks of text.

The constraints on Twitter are: width of box & character limit.

Hive could match Twitter’s box width and make the title what shows up in the box. Clicking on it reveals the whole page.

Does this make sense to anyone else?
