Las Tunas is a young city of just over 225 years; historians debate whether its foundation was in 1796 or a few years earlier.
For more than a century, Las Tunas—then known as Hato de Las Tunas, Victoria de Las Tunas—was a colonial city burned down three times. At the beginning of the 20th century, many of the buildings that now make up the Historic Center were constructed. Among them, the Hotel Cadillac from 1945 stands out.

A three-story building shaped like a ship is reflected in the waters on the marble floor of the Vicente García Park. In the distance, an outdated gazebo from the early 21st century occupies the space where a Catholic Church hostel once stood.
