Departure

Finding motivation to write a post in the midst of the cryptopocalypse is not easy. I know that moments like these are perfect for accumulating more SP (the Steem payout is bigger when the price of Steem is lower), but I guess that the human psyche sometimes works contrary to logic. That said, I will try to be more active in the upcoming weeks.

Enough of that, let's talk beer! Last Saturday my buddy @agniese left Bulgaria and the Balkans, and to make her departure more memorable, we decided to drink and shoot together for one last time (in Bulgaria that is). The beer had to be local, so we chose the Mursalski Red Ale from Ah! brewing company. Brewed with mint and the quite famous in Bulgaria Mursala tea (Sideritis scardica or Mountain tea), we expected nothing less but unique smell and awesome flavor.

One very cool thing about this brewery is that a percentage of each bottle's sale goes to the artist who created the artwork. And as you can see from the picture above, for the same type of beer they have different artworks.

The aroma delivered! @agniese said that it's a pleasant mix of tea, mint and honey. I'd also add that there was a pronounced maltiness in the aroma.

The taste - not so much. The beer was too carbonated, and there was more mint than tea in the flavor. The finish was minty and bitter, and it felt like I had chewed some mint leaves. It's drinkable, but neither of us liked it much.

All in all, it was an okay beer, but you can find better ones for the price (2.5 Euros as far as I can remember). I heard that these guys export to Serbia and the Netherlands, so if you happen to live in one of these countries, you can give it a try. The smell of Mursalski (Mountain) tea is quite unique.

I think our next beer session will be in a place that looks out of this world.

Cheers and thank you for reading!
