No dejan de impresionarme las diferentes maneras en que me llegan los sonidos que disparan el deseo de escribir estas notas. A veces ando caminando por la calle y de pronto me llega un fragmento conocido, allí, en ese preciso momento, la máquina de la memoria se echa a andar. Otras veces, estoy viendo algo en internet y de pronto se me atraviesa algún tema conocido. Las más de las veces es cualquier lista de spotify la responsable de echar a volar mi imaginación… En estos días mientras revisaba algo en el Instagram de repente comenzó a sonar una voz junto a un arreglo de cuerdas bastante conocido. No recuerdo muy bien el contenido de lo que estaba viendo, probablemente me había caído alguna de las fastidiosas publicidades que cada día se vuelven más invasivas y que se atraviesan sin que uno las esté pidiendo, es el costo de la gratuidad en esta etapa del internet global. Apenas inició el fragmento de aquella música conocida mi mente se puso en marcha, lo recordé claramente, era el tema musical de una conocida serie de televisión que tuvo en la TV local entre los años ochenta y hasta bien avanzados los noventa. Me estoy refiriendo a la serie Moonlighting, era sobre una pareja de detectives bastante peculiar y original, mezclaba en su justa dosis la comedia y el drama, y estaba protagonizada por dos estrellas nacientes , los que ganaron mucha visibilidad luego de esta puesta en escena: la actriz Cybill Shepherd y el actor Bruce Willis, quien lamentablemente tuvo que poner fin a su todavía ascendente carrera por motivos de enfermedad.  La canción y la serie están muy ligadas a mi vida sentimental. Para el año ochenta y nueve yo estaba de regreso a la soltería. Luego de diez años de matrimonio aquella unión había dejado de funcionar y mi esposa y yo tomamos la decisión de dejarlo hasta allí y nos divorciamos. Yo llenaba mi tiempo con una rutina bastante completa. Entre semana me levantaba temprano para hacer un poco de ejercicio antes de irme a mi trabajo como profesor de liceo. En la tarde iba a mis clases en la maestría del Pedagógico de Maracay. En las noches hacía mis tareas y ocasionalmente ponía en la televisión una de las series de moda, la protagonizada por Bruce Willis y Cybill Shepherd. La verdad es que me entretenía mucho viendo las peripecias de aquellos seres tan distintos, ella completamente centrada en sus objetivos, con una visión clara de la vida, y él con una mentalidad del como vaya viniendo vamos viendo y a ratos bastante díscolo. Los sábados en la mañana me habían dado una oportunidad para darle clases a un grupo de maestros en ejercicios en una extensión que tenía el Pedagógico. Fue en una de esas clases donde conocí a la que sería mi segunda esposa. Con ella no me cansaba de hablar de cualquier cosa, siempre ha sido una excelente conversadora que puede opinar con propiedad sobre casi cualquier cosa, su único punto débil en aquella época era el relacionado con la televisión. Al principio aquello me llamó la atención, no era común encontrar personas que no vieran casi televisión, la TV era uno de los entretenimientos más económicos y populares en todas las regiones del país . Por eso me pareció raro cuando le hablé de Moonlighting y ella me dijo con toda la sinceridad posible que no veía el canal donde la daban. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quWNX_JAOFc&list=RDquWNX_JAOFc&start_radio=1 Las razones de esa situación las conocí unos meses más tarde cuando decidimos establecernos como pareja y yo me mudé a la casa de ella. La vivienda estaba situada en una zona al Norte de Maracay, en un sitio muy agradable, verde y con buen clima, en plena falta de la montaña. Por cuestiones geográficas en el sitio no llegaba bien la señal de la televisión. Esa era el motivo por el que mi compañera la veía muy poco. Al mudarme para allá yo también me desconecté de la TV y no volví a ver la serie. Por fortuna para ese momento ya empezaban a establecerse los clubes de video y se podía tener acceso a algunas películas en formato VHS, que aunque con poca calidad de imagen cumplían muy bien su función de entretenimiento. Pasaron los años y un buen día comenzaron a poner el servicio de cable en la zona, fue la vuelta a la TV. Pero el cable no fue la única sorpresa de aquel tiempo porque una tarde, en medio de una caminata por la montaña, mi esposa me dio la noticia de que estaba embarazada, algo que no teníamos previsto, pero se dio. Nos tocaba entonces volver a recordar los lejanos tiempos de los niños pequeños. Ya nuestros tres hijos eran adolescentes, el mayor andaba en los diecisiete años y el menor en los doce. El vientre de mi esposa comenzó a crecer a ritmo sostenido y una noche mientras pasaba canales buscando algo para ver, por casualidad me topé de nuevo con la serie. Inmediatamente llamé a mi esposa para que se viniera donde estaba el televisor. Al ver ese capítulo mi esposa se enganchó, la trama desarrollada por aquella pareja era realmente atractiva. A partir de aquel momento y durante el resto del embarazo fueron muchos los capítulos de Moonlighting que nos acompañaron mientras hacíamos los planes para recibir a nuestra última hija. Es probable que muchos de ustedes hayan logrado ver la serie, sé que todavía la ofrecen en algunos canales de streaming. I never cease to be amazed by the different ways in which sounds reach me and trigger my desire to write these notes. Sometimes I'm walking down the street and suddenly a familiar fragment comes to me, and right there, at that precise moment, the memory machine kicks into gear. Other times, I'm looking at something on the internet and suddenly a familiar theme crosses my mind. Most of the time, it's some Spotify playlist that sets my imagination flying...The other day, while I was checking something on Instagram, a voice suddenly began to sing along with a well-known string arrangement. I don't remember very well what I was looking at, probably one of those annoying ads that are becoming more and more invasive every day and pop up without you asking for them. That's the price of free content in this era of the global internet. As soon as the fragment of that familiar music began, my mind started working. I remembered clearly that it was the theme song of a well-known television series that aired on local TV between the 1980s and well into the 1990s. I am referring to the series Moonlighting, which was about a rather peculiar and original pair of detectives. It mixed just the right amount of comedy and drama and starred two rising stars who gained a lot of visibility after this production: actress Cybill Shepherd and actor Bruce Willis, who unfortunately had to end his still-rising career due to illness.The song and the series are closely linked to my love life.  By 1989, I was back to being single. After ten years of marriage, that union had stopped working, and my wife and I made the decision to call it quits and get divorced.I filled my time with a fairly full routine. During the week, I got up early to do some exercise before going to my job as a high school teacher. In the afternoon, I went to my classes for my master's degree at the Pedagogical University of Maracay. In the evenings, I did my homework and occasionally watched one of the popular TV series starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd. The truth is that I was very entertained watching the adventures of those two very different characters: she was completely focused on her goals, with a clear vision of life, and he had a “let's see how it goes” mentality and was quite rebellious at times. On Saturday mornings, I had been given the opportunity to teach a group of trainee teachers at an extension of the teacher training college. It was in one of those classes that I met the woman who would become my second wife. I never tired of talking to her about anything; she has always been an excellent conversationalist who can give an informed opinion on almost anything. Her only weakness at that time was related to television. At first, that caught my attention. It was unusual to find people who hardly watched television, as TV was one of the most affordable and popular forms of entertainment in all regions of the country. The house was located in a very pleasant, green area with a good climate in the foothills of the mountains, north of Maracay. Due to geographical reasons, the television signal did not reach the area very well. That was why my partner watched very little television. When I moved there, I also disconnected from TV and didn't watch the series again. Fortunately, video clubs were starting to become established at that time, and it was possible to access some movies in VHS format, which, although with poor image quality, served their entertainment purpose very well. Years passed, and one fine day, cable service began to be offered in the area, marking a return to TV. But cable wasn't the only surprise at that time because one afternoon, in the middle of a walk in the mountains, my wife told me she was pregnant, something we hadn't planned, but it happened. We had to remember the distant days of small children. Our three children were now teenagers, the oldest was seventeen and the youngest was twelve. My wife's belly began to grow at a steady pace, and one night, while flipping through channels looking for something to watch, I happened to come across the series again. I immediately called my wife to come to the TV. Upon seeing that episode, my wife was immediately hooked; the plot developed by that couple was really appealing. From that moment on and throughout the rest of the pregnancy, we watched many episodes of Moonlighting while we made plans to welcome our youngest daughter.
