¿Ser auténticos? | Be authentic?

Saludos. El amigo @emiliorios en una de sus últimas publicaciones para la comunidad de @holos-lotus nos deja la [invitación]( https://peakd.com/hive-131951/@emiliorios/autenticos-originales-irrepetibles-podemos-serlo-la-importancia-de-sabernos-unicos-esen) a reflexionar sobre un tema de especial relevancia en nuestro tiempo, la importancia de ser auténticos. Les comento… Buscar lo que nos hace distintos parece ser una de las grandes discusiones de los días que corren, creo que nunca antes hubo tanto afán por distinguirnos de los demás. En otros momentos de la vida de nuestra especie esa necesidad quizá no existía. Los grupos humanos eran más pequeños, los estamentos sociales eran inflexibles, y las exigencias de la vida muy duras. Ocupados casi todo el tiempo en resolver los asuntos de la existencia era difícil que el común de la gente estuviera pendiente de estarse distinguiendo de los demás. Un asunto que podría no tener ningún sentido. Pero en nuestros días las cosas son muy distintas. Vivimos en un tiempo de inmediatez, todos somos espectadores de eventos y situaciones que ocurren en cualquier parte del mundo. La sensación de estar presentes en todas partes, de manera ilimitada, sin duda que ha redimensionado nuestra forma de relacionarnos. Al haber alcanzado un contacto de tan grandes dimensiones se ha abierto el espacio para que los modelajes de los llamados influencers tengan mucho peso en la forma en que se vive la vida y en los temas que forman parte de la agenda pública. Son millones de personas las que quieren parecerse a algunos de esos modelos, tratan de imitar sus conversaciones, sus gestos, sus formas de vestir, sus gustos, y desean poseer los artilugios tecnológicos que usan, en fin… Este impacto se siente sobre todo en las generaciones más jóvenes, quienes andan todavía en proceso de consolidar su personalidad. Pero también afecta a los de más edad.  En un contexto como este tiene mucho sentido el llamado a ser auténticos, una invitación que por cierto no es nueva. Ya en los tiempos bíblicos se invitaba a la autenticidad. Para aquel momento su contenido estaba relacionado con virtudes importantes para la vida cristiana. El ideal de autenticidad se relacionaba con aspectos como sinceridad, honestidad, humildad, práctica de la fe… En nuestros días la autenticidad se relaciona más con una exploración del conocimiento personal para poder determinar cuáles son los valores importantes que constituyen nuestra identidad. Asumimos que cada uno es un ser único e irrepetible y como tal debe tener un conjunto de valoraciones que lo distinguen de los demás. Actuar con autenticidad no solo expresa nuestra forma de entender el mundo sino que al mismo tiempo se constituye en una especie de escudo para frenar un poco las influencias del entorno. Claro, con esto de las influencias hay que tener cierto cuidado, no es un asunto fácil de determinar. En principio hay que aceptar que nadie está libre de influencias. Los humanos somos seres sociales, en cada uno viven las creencias y valores fundamentales que su cultura ha producido a lo largo del tiempo. Nadie escapa a eso. Al nacer llegamos a un mundo cultural en el que se forja nuestra personalidad. También debemos tomar en cuenta que las valoraciones culturales cambian a lo largo del tiempo. Y aquí es donde se abre otro gran debate. ¿Son las valoraciones sociales de nuestro tiempo mejores o peores que las de otras épocas…?  Otro tema difícil. Los de mi generación están convencidos que las nuestras eran mejores, ahora vemos un individualismo exacerbado que puede ser nocivo para el tejido social. Los más jóvenes dirán que este momento es el que muestra más tolerancia en la historia de la humanidad, lo que pudiera ser muy cierto. Para zanjar las discrepancias pudiéramos acordar que la búsqueda de la autenticidad tiene mucho que ver con tener una postura crítica ante la vida. Con la capacidad de valorar lo que nos llega de fuera para determinar de acuerdo a nuestro juicio si lo incorporamos a nosotros o lo dejamos correr. Creo que por ahí va el asunto. Let me explain... Finding what makes us different seems to be one of the big discussions of our time. I don't think there has ever been such a desire to distinguish ourselves from others. At other times in the history of our species, this need may not have existed. Human groups were smaller, social classes were inflexible, and the demands of life were very harsh. Busy almost all the time with the concerns of existence, it was difficult for ordinary people to be concerned with distinguishing themselves from others. It was a matter that might not have made any sense. But today, things are very different. We live in a time of immediacy; we are all spectators of events and situations that occur anywhere in the world. The feeling of being present everywhere, without limits, has undoubtedly reshaped the way we relate to each other.  Having achieved such widespread contact has opened up space for so-called influencers to have a significant impact on the way we live our lives and on the issues that are part of the public agenda. Millions of people want to be like some of these models, trying to imitate their conversations, their gestures, their way of dressing, their tastes, and wanting to own the technological gadgets they use. This impact is felt most strongly among the younger generations, who are still in the process of consolidating their personalities. But it also affects older people. In a context like this, the call to be authentic makes a lot of sense, an invitation that is certainly not new. Even in biblical times, authenticity was encouraged. At that time, its content was related to virtues important to Christian life. The ideal of authenticity was related to aspects such as sincerity, honesty, humility, and the practice of faith Nowadays, authenticity is more related to an exploration of personal knowledge in order to determine the important values that constitute our identity. We assume that each person is a unique and unrepeatable being and, as such, must have a set of values that distinguish them from others.  Acting with authenticity not only expresses our way of understanding the world but also serves as a kind of shield to curb the influences of our environment. Of course, we must be careful with these influences, as they are not easy to determine. In principle, we must accept that no one is free from influences. Humans are social beings, and each of us lives with the fundamental beliefs and values that our culture has produced over time. No one escapes this. When we are born, we arrive in a cultural world that shapes our personality. We must also take into account that cultural values change over time. And this is where another great debate opens up. Are the social values of our time better or worse than those of other eras? Another difficult question. Those of my generation are convinced that ours were better; now we see an exacerbated individualism that can be harmful to the social fabric. Younger people will say that this moment in time shows the most tolerance in the history of humanity, which could very well be true. To settle the differences, we could agree that the search for authenticity has a lot to do with having a critical attitude towards life. With the ability to evaluate what comes to us from outside in order to determine, according to our own judgment, whether we incorporate it into ourselves or let it go.
