 Una de las cosas que me dolió dejar al migrar, fue mi cama y es que tiene un valor sentimental para mí. Cuando mi esposo y yo empezamos a vivir juntos, dormíamos en una cama individual mientras reuníamos para poder comprar una cama y un colchón grande, Pero debido a la situación país y diversos contratiempos familiares, ahorrar se hizo casi imposible y comprar la cama y el colchónse pospuso por casi un año.  En algún punto nos resignamos un poco a qué no podríamos alcanzar la meta, era muy complicado. Pero una tarde papá tuvo una idea. ¿Y si hacemos la cama? No era la primera vez que en casa se construían muebles con materiales reciclados o que fabricabamos desde cero cosas necesarias. Hacer nosotros mismos cosas que normalmente se comprarían era ya parte de nuestra rutina. Encontrar los materiales no fue difícil, pues en casa había una paleta, de esas que se usan para apilar cajas en los depósitos. Llevaba años en casa, Pero la mayoría de las tablas eran utilizables. Y así fue como mi papá y mi esposo se pusieron a desarmar para después construir una cama de dos plazas.  El proceso fue lento, pues lo hacían en los ratos libres, además no tenían demasiadas herramientas. Pero finalmente lograron construir una cama. Cómo las tablas estaban viejitas y queríamos protegerlas, las pintamos con un poco de una pintura de aceite que también llevaba años en casa. En esa parte yo si colaboré. Finalmente necesitamos 3 personas para mover la pesada cama y entre risas y alegría la instalamos en el cuarto. Sobre ella el pequeño colchón de una plaza, pues aún no teníamos para comprar otro. Pero habíamos avanzado un paso en el camino y no nos habíamos rendido. Volvimos a vencer las limitaciones, teníamos fé de que llegaríamos a comprar nuestro anhelado colchón.  Durante 8 meses más dormimos en el pequeño colchón, pero en la nueva cama. La mejora fue considerable pues la cama anterior no estaba muy buena y no daba buen soporte al colchón, además extendiamos un poco el espacio con algunas almohadas. Finalmente logramos comprar un colchón nuevo y estábamos demasiado felices con la adquisición. El camino había sido largo (demasiado) y la realidad abrumadora: ¿Dos años para comprar un colchón? y todo lo demás ¿cuándo...? Viendo en retrospectiva ese día fue determinante para tomar la decisión de emigrar. I helped with that part. Finally, we needed three people to move the heavy bed, and amid laughter and joy, we installed it in the room. On top of it was the small single mattress, as we still didn't have the money to buy another one. But we had taken a step forward on the journey and hadn't given up. We once again overcame our limitations; we had faith that we would eventually buy our long-awaited mattress.  For another 8 months, we slept on the small mattress, but in the new bed. The improvement was considerable, as the old bed wasn't very good and didn't provide adequate support. We also expanded the space a bit with some pillows. We finally managed to buy a new mattress and were overjoyed with the purchase. The road had been long (too long), and the reality was overwhelming: Two years to buy a mattress? And everything else, when...? Looking back, that day was decisive in my decision to emigrate.
