Something happened as a result of the immense public anger in Indonesia that had accumulated over the past few years. This is not a provocative post, but rather my opinion, which I will share in this post.
Let me briefly explain: at the end of August, massive demonstrations took place in almost every major city in Indonesia, especially the capital, Jakarta. Public anger at the attitudes of government officials angered the public, especially some members of the legislature, who used rude language and insulted the public.
From what I read in the Tempo newspaper's September 1-7 edition, it turns out that these demonstrations were orchestrated by a group of people seeking change, particularly against members of the executive branch. The public enraged and held demonstrations, but it turn out that behind it all, there was a provocative group carry out massive actions, vandalizing public facilities, and even looting. However, what was surprising and strange was that it all happened so spontaneously, as if someone had intended it all.
Who was behind it? Of course, I learned one name from the newspaper, but it would be too risky to post it. It's enough to just read it, as the alleged perpetrator is still in office and even quite close to a member of the executive branch. It would be a shame if that happened.
Isn't this a bad assumption? Of course. But I hope this country will be fine. Power in the hands of the people is a must for a democratic country, but unfortunately, that hasn't been realized very well. There are still many corrupt officials, bribery, and laws that favor those in power. This has been happening for decades.
The public's anger is still ongoing, and the government still has many demands to address. Will the mass actions and demonstrations bring positive results? Or the opposite? I hope Indonesia recovers soon and the difficulties faced by the people, especially the sharply increasing need for basic necessities, can be brought back to a brighter future.
Even eating has become difficult. Let alone living well. Will everything go smoothly in the future?
