Imagine how magnificent Old Bagan, Burma, in the 10th century, leave behind countless pagodas that have remain intact to this day. Doesn't that demonstrate that its splendor is preserved?
You should experience exploring the many pagodas of Old Bagan once in a lifetime. It's truly an experience you can tell later. This place holds a spiritual touch for Buddhists, demonstrated by the power you can faintly feel. There's a hint of magic.
It's said that Old Bagan is like a city filled with spiritual journeys for those who believe in it. But here I was on a journey to see one of the historical sites of civilization. I want to learn more about what the great civilization of Burma was like at that time.
One of the things I enjoying here a pagoda that has existed since the 10th century, mark by a reclining Buddha statue enshrined in a cave, visible only upon entering the room.
The cave-like structure appears to be too narrow for such a large Buddha statue, but the gaps allow for prayer religious rituals.
Furthermore, this place houses not only the recline Buddha statue within the cave, but also a large and well-maintained pagoda. This pagoda was last renovated in 2004 and dedicated to the founder of the Pagan Kingdom, Royal King Anawrahta. A king renowned for his greatness and recognized by the Burmese people for his position and considered the greatest king due to his extensive territorial expansion.
I took a photo in front of it to demonstrate my visit. This is a sign that this pagoda has around for a long time, but it is not the only one. While not the largest, most beautiful, or even the most magnificent, it is a very important place for Burmese civilization.
The pagoda have a main hall and several other small house. Each house houses small Buddha statue, but there are no Buddha statue in the main hall. Despite its size, we are not allow to enter the pagoda, we can only climb the stairs to the ground floor. Otherwise, access is prohibited for safety reasons.
Another interesting experience: this pagoda was incredibly crowded! It even served as a pre-wedding photo opportunity for a couple. Pretty cool, right?
