It feels very strange to go to Thailand and not try their local food. Although, many people say it's not to their liking, I love almost all of Thai food. Even start researching what's delicious in Thailand cause I get bored of just eating Tom Yum.
Thai food has a wide variety, from cheap to expensive, from savory to sweet and dessert. Everything is truly delicious and incredibly variety. However, there's one restaurant that really intrigues me, a restaurant that's been viral around: Kub Kao Kub Pla.
This restaurant is locate in several malls, if I've forgotten two or three in various major malls in Bangkok. One of them is in CentralW0rld, not far from my hotel, and it's quite busy. Because it's near Bangkok's largest fashion retail shopping center, is that Pratunam.
Even get a table for two is quite difficult, and we wait for up to 30 minutes. Luckily, we walking around CentralWorld to avoid get bored, and when we finally got in line, we got table there.
They will give you a menu, but before I get a table, we've already discuss what to order. It's quite expensive here, but I been want to try the Salmon Som Tam, so it's definitely worth it. Fresh fish is best purchase from a reputable and trust worthy source.
Before our som tam arrive, we were serve soda water, which we'd order beforehand, with ice cube in the glass. I don't know why I've never try this soda water before, but it's a Thai brand, and it's perfect for my palate. The soda is incredibly strong and instantly energizing.
Our salmon som tam arriving good, topped with tobiko beads, which made my mouth water. But first, I took a photo. Salmon som tam is similar to shrimp som tam, the ingredients diffrent only salmon replaced shrimp, but this my first time trying salmon som tam, especially fresh. It was then that I discovered that som tam has a strong sour flavor, made from various acids like lemon, lime, and even a hint of ginger. The fish sauce and sugar were perfectly balanced, and the sourness made me feel like I was floating. It was truly unexpected.
Because they use a fair strong acid, it tastes like cook fish when it comes into contact with the fish, so there's no need to worry about an upset stomach. I absolutely love the aroma! There's a hint of coriander leaves, especially after eating. It completely takes away the fishy taste of the salmon.
