Making Bookmarks from Recycled Materials

Hello, friends! How are you? How's August treating you?

Last night, I went to bed really late because I was working on my next project.

When I moved to the city I'm currently living, ai brought some books with me, but I forgot something important: bookmarks. I'm not the kind of girl who likes to fold the corners of the pages in a book, so instead I used anything that could serve as a bookmark.

That's why I made these bookmarks, and to my surprise, they look kind of cute.

The Materials:

  • White and Black thin cardboard.
  • White glue.
  • Ribbons.
  • Markers, pen, and pencil.
  • Ruler.
  • Scissors.

  • 1: I started by choosing a size for the bookmarks. On the white thin cardboard I chose a 15x6 cm, and for the black one 17x8cm. I cut down two pairs of the black, one pair of the white.

  • 2: With the two pairs of black cardboard, I glued them to make just one pair. This way the bookmarks would have more resistance.

  • 3: I left the glue dry, and continued with the white cardboard. In this one, I wanted to make a cute design, so, I took two ribbons of different colors, and glued them on the middle of the white cardboard, and letf them dry.

  • 4: after the two sets were dry, I glued the white cardboard on one side of the black one. This one would serve as the front.

  • 5: when the two bookmarks were dry, I decorated them with some stars I found on a gift bag. Also, proceeded to tie two pieces of ribbon at the top of the bookmarks.

  • 6: I chose some markers to make some more drawings on the bookmarks. And with a pen I wrote some lyrics of two songs I really like.

And this is the final result. What do you think? Aren't they cute? I hope you like them.

Note: almost all of the materials used in this project were recycled.
