Your mom’s calling you…she wants you to join them for breakfast with your dad.” “Alright, Manang. Please tell them I’ll be down in a bit. I’ll just take a shower first.” Ugh. I really hate eating with them sometimes. They’re always being sweet and lovey-dovey right in front of me. Ughhh… gross. As I walked down the stairs, I spotted Mom and Dad laughing together at the dining table. Here we go again…the same old routine. I could already guess what was coming next: they’d ask why I came home so late last night. “Good morning, Mom. Good morning, Dad,” I greeted, giving each of them a quick kiss on the cheek. “Oh, what took you so long, Chin?” Dad asked, raising an eyebrow. I smirked. Oh, I really thought Dad would ask why I came home late last night. Good thing he forgot. A quiet chuckle escaped my lips. “Oh, honey,” Mom teased while touching his hand, “of course she took her time. She’s a young lady now…she has her little morning routines.” “Tsk, that’s why she’s always late for school, because of those routines,” Dad muttered, taking a sip of coffee. I rolled my eyes. “Come on, Dad. Just be proud that your daughter looks this good in the morning.” And then… Ding-dong! I groaned. “Ughhh… who could that be this early?” I mumbled, dragging my feet toward the door. “It’s way too early for visitors…” And just as I expected—him again. “Oh great. What are you doing here? Here to eat breakfast with us again? Don’t you have rice at your own house?” I raised an eyebrow. “Good morning, Chin,” he said with a teasing grin. “Wow, you look terrible this early. Hahaha!” Ugh. That’s so Dyllan Cruz-Chua, the constant irritation in my life. Half-Chinese, tall, fair-skinned, and annoyingly good-looking. Woahhh, did I just say good-looking??? Oppssss nononoo. He’s the type who doesn’t even need to try; he just stands there and somehow manages to steal everyone’s attention. Tsskkk… as always. “Good morning, Tita. Good morning, Tito,” he greeted politely, running a hand through his hair like he was in some commercial or drama scene. “Oh, have you had breakfast, Dyllan?” Dad asked, motioning for him to sit down. “Not yet, Tito,” he replied with that same charming smile that makes everyone melt…everyone except me. I shot him a sharp look as he sat beside me. Why does he always have to show up here? Always tagging along, always getting on my nerves. And worst of all, he’s coming with me to school again. Ugh. Nothing new. Same story, same annoying guy. “Look after my daughter, Dyllan,” Mom said playfully, giving him a wink. “You’re in charge of her, okay?” I sighed deeply and glared at him one last time. Here we go again—another day with the most irritating guy in my life. Tsskkk… What a perfect way to start the morning.
