My current setup is pretty old
For the past 4 years I've been running my current PC and it's age is starting to show. It's starting to struggle with newer games, It can't really keep up with gaming and streaming at the same time and productivity wise it also takes a long time to do various things.
Anyone who has seem my computer can appreciate that making changes and upgrades is actually a large undertaking as I have to no only manage and drain/refill two water loops, but I also have to often make minor modifications to my case to make everything fit.
I'll likely need to bend new tubing that goes to the GPU and CPU waterblocks as the locations of these parts is not always the same across motherboards.
Current Setup:
CPU: Ryzen 5900x MOBO: Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master Ram: Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB DDR4 GPU: Radeon 6900XT
The old rig as it was!
Newer GPU made quite the difference!
A few days ago I actually upgraded just the GPU to start with.
I got the Radeon 9070XT Red Devil from power colour and it alone has made quite the improvement to my computer, It's even made my programs use LESS CPU than before which is nice. My CPU isn't quite struggling as much as a result.
As you can see it's currently running it's stock air cooler, I've ordered a water block for it but it won't be here for another few days. It's a good thing my CPU and GPU water loops are completely separate :D
And since I'm going to do redoing the liquid in both looks when I water cool my GPU.. I figured I might as well just do a full platform upgrade and be sorted for the next 4 years.
So I spend loads of money I technically don't have.. yay credit cards! xD
Replacing my CPU, MOBO and ram, my new kit is going to be as follows.
CPU: Ryzen 9 9950X MOBO: Asrock X870 Steel Legend RAM: 64GB (x4 16GB) G.Skill Ripjaws M5 Neo RGB CL28 6000MT/s
Overall the total cost including GPU and waterblock so far is £1958.76
Which is only marginally more expensive that my previous Radeon 6900XT waterforce GPU that cost me £1800 cause prices back then where crazy.
I can probably make back a fair chunk of this my selling my old parts so it's all good really.
Custom case going to look epic!
Since the motherboard is now white and the GPU also has a white PCB the inside of my case is actually going to look a whole lot better!
I'll naturally be making a post once it's complete chock full of pictures.
Once it's all up and running I can actually focus more on the case itself and get some newer RGB lights with better colour accuracy as well as deal with some of the airflow issues in the front compartment. In other words simply design it better.
As a final note for those who read this far.
My PC isn't actually called 'rainbow puke' It's officially called Rainbow Tower on my network. I'm just meme'n with those who despise RGB for some reason. XD
