Ser inspiración, ser motivación, ser ejemplo:
En esos tiempos estaba haciendo unas pasantías en un colegio de Caracas, y fue bastante inspirador y me dió mucha motivación. Estaba dando unas clases de arte a unos niños de primaria entre 4to y 5to grado, y fue realmente muy bonito. Ellos estaban entusiasmados y con muchas ganas de soltar toda su energía. En esa época yo no tenía demasiada experiencia de nada. Además con el apoyo de mis compañeras de ese momento, pude logras muchas cosas, cumplir con los objetivos designados para esa actividad y lo agradezco mucho.
No sé a qué se dedicaran cada una en este momento de la vida, aunque sé de una de ellas que hoy en día es madre de dos maravillosos niños, y ahora que me acuerdo, también he visto de otra, que es bailarina profesional. Para mi, fueron experiencias muy enriquecedoras que no cambiaría por nada porque de verdad en esos momentos aprendí de mis estudiantes, de mis compañeras, de las maestras que nos acompañaban en ese momento, fue una dinámica muy entretenida.
Le poníamos a hacer a los niños diferentes actividades artísticas como hacer dibujos, pinturas, también actividades lúdicas, y cualquier cosa que tuviera que ver con su sentir sobre lo sensible, sobre lo creativo, sobre el amor por la pintura y más. Sabemos que los niños de por si, son muy creativos y su energía contagia. Cabe destacar que los niños pueden aprender de todo, son esponjitas, aunque suene a cliché, es una verdad universal. Y nuestra intención era mostrarle un camino distinto al que tal vez ser perfilaría en un futuro, porque su ubicación geográfica era una zona de Caracas algo particular, en San Agustín, y pues, se sabe que esa zona es bastante delicada en cuanto a la delincuencia y los estigmas de la sociedad etc. Sin embargo sé que hoy en día no es tan excesivo, pero quién sabe. No quiero pecar de alarmista o mucho menos clasista pero pasan cosas que no podemos evitar y es lamentable.
En otro orden de ideas puedo decir que sencillamente la experiencia fue muy creativa, bonita y un recuerdo maravilloso. Y me gusta el trabajo en aula, pero es bastante agotador. Aún así, lo repetiría mil veces.
Siento que siempre he tenido una facilidad para la enseñanza, aunque no soy perfecta, pero he desarrollado mi método. Para los que son profesores que me leen, ¿creen que para ser mejores profesores solo se necesita estudiar de pedagogía, o también desarrollarlo con la experiencia y los muchos años y por supuesto el querer serlo desde el fondo de tu corazón?
Pienso que aparte de saber lo básico de la enseñanza, se debe tener por supuesto, vocación. Eso, aunque seas alguien muy letrado, si no lo tienes, siempre fallará algo en tu metodología.

In those times I was doing an internship at a school in Caracas, and it was quite inspiring and gave me a lot of motivation. I was teaching art to some primary school kids between 4th and 5th grade, and it was really very beautiful. They were excited and eager to unleash all their energy. At that time I didn’t have a lot of experience in anything. Moreover, with the support of my coworkers at the time, I was able to achieve many things, meet the objectives designated for that activity, and I’m very grateful for it.
I don’t know what each of them is doing with their lives now, although I know one of them today is a mother of two wonderful children, and now that I think about it, I’ve also seen another who is a professional dancer. For me, those were very enriching experiences that I wouldn’t trade for anything because in those moments I truly learned from my students, from my coworkers, from the teachers who accompanied us at the time; it was a very entertaining dynamic.
We had the kids do different artistic activities such as drawing, painting, as well as playful activities, and anything that had to do with their feelings about the sensitive, about the creative, about the love of painting, and more. We know that children by nature are very creative and their energy is contagious. It should be noted that children can learn from anything; they’re sponges, even though that sounds cliché, it’s a universal truth. And our intention was to show them a path different from the one that might be outlined in a future, because their geographic location was a rather particular area of Caracas, in San Agustín, and it’s known that area is quite delicate regarding crime and the stigmas of society, etc. However, I know that today it isn’t as extreme, but who knows. I don’t want to sound alarmist or, even less, classist, but things happen that we can’t avoid and it’s unfortunate.
On another note, I can say that the experience was simply very creative, beautiful, and a wonderful memory. I enjoy classroom work, but it’s pretty exhausting. Even so, I would repeat it a thousand times.
I feel that I’ve always had an ease for teaching, even though I’m not perfect, I’ve developed my method. For those of you who are teachers reading this, do you think that to be better teachers you only need to study pedagogy, or should you also develop it through experience and many years and, of course, the desire to be one from the bottom of your heart?
I think that besides knowing the basics of teaching, you must, of course, have vocation. That, even if you’re highly educated, if you don’t have it, something in your methodology will always fail.
