Our everyday life is surrounded with so many unavoidable activities that take much of our time. From family, relationship, work, to economic and social engagements. All these tend to take so much of our time that sometimes, if not often, one forgets to look within oneself and check the most important aspect of one's life - one's mental health.
Our mental health is like the car engine, if not in the right state it'll be difficult to work very well. When one is not in the right state of mind, it affects one's relationship with others, emotions, it also affects one's productivity. And most importantly, it affects one's general well-being.

Prioritizing my health over any other thing makes me conscious and intentional about my daily routine. For my mental health, I do not watch or listen to news. The reason is simple, the major news the mainstream media feed the public with is negative news. Logically you become what you constantly feed your mind with. To avoid that negativity, I practically stay away from news for my mental health.
I'm careful with what, where and who I spend my time with because my time is so precious, so, I don't waste it on unprofitable ventures. As much as possible, I avoid anything that threatens my peace, include in my daily routine, time for exercise, read and watch motivational clips. These are things I do to keep my mental health in check.

Finally, giving the fact that I cannot avoid work and family life, and none should suffer for the other, they should be balanced. Work hours are strictly maintained for its purpose, office work ends at the office. When at home it's for family and rest, to avoid undue stress because it also negatively affects my productivity both at work and home. So, for me to always be at my peak state I plan my activities in that regard.
With a lot of daily activities, ranging from economic, social and personal activities, it's quite easy for one to get carried away to the extend of neglecting creating time for one's well-being. Being intentional about it and priotizing the most important thing is the beginning of maintaining good mental health.
