It's been four months since I posted here on Hive. That was after a two month lag. I'm still not sure what role Hive plays in my overall online communication world, but I'm aiming to come back at least every few days again to re-engage in social connection through writing - but without the algorithms.
I've been thinking about time a lot lately. Time is one of the many social constructs that we humans have made to facilitate life - mostly business and commerce. Time is one of those words that needs multiple definitions and yet English is lousy and gives us one. Greek at least gives us two words for time - chronos and kairos. The way I think of these is that chronos is clock time and kairos is heart time. Kairos time is time we spend focused on the things we love. Time can melt away as a construct when we're in kairos time. It's that proverbial flow state - and it's filled with joy.
I won't speak for anyone else, but I spend far too much of my time focused on chronos time. I have to be at this meeting by 9 and then at this meeting by 11 and then at this appointment by 12:30 and on and on throughout the days.
So, this month I'm trying to spend a little less time specifically in Chronos time and give myself some more time for flow and some more heart moments to spend with those I love to get more Kairos time.
