New Art and Childhood Nostalgia.....

Hello!
It is a little past 1 pm as I type this, but it seems like it is early morning as it has been overcast since I got out of bed. In one manner it feels calm and as if life is going slow, but in fact time is trotting along just like normal, slipping away secretly in the background.
Last weekend when I posted, my car was waiting to go into the shop. I took it on Tuesday as requested and later in the day got a call to let me know one of the fans that keeps my radiator cool had a burned out motor and another little sensor inside the radiator was kaput! They had to order the parts and they expected them to come the next day, so I would get my car back on Wednesday. All good... .right? Ummm...no.... One part came in and the other one didn't, but the tracker showed the second part in a different city, so for sure it would get there the next day... right?? Ummmm... no.... it showed as "out for delivery" from the hub the next town over, but it showed like that all day and never landed. What ?? Ok... whatchagonnado?? So Friday the traveling part landed and was put on.. .good.... right??? Ummm....no! Once the sensor was on and the radiator filled up and the car was running, Uh oh!.... a hairline crack was in the top of the radiator and it was very slowly leaking. My mechanic was SO apologetic, you see, the radiator had been a little low on fluid when it got there, but they were going to have to drain it to put the sensor on, so they never filled it all the way up once they found the broken fan motor and the bad sensor. This caused them not to see that the radiator had a leak too. So.... here we go again! After he called and confirmed, he ordered the radiator and it is supposed to be here Monday.
I'm not holding my breath!
For real though, the radiator is the original and my car will be 25 years old this coming February. I think I got my money's worth out of that one. I'm kind of thinking it might be time to start looking for my next car, but this one has really been the best car ever. I bought it from my cousin when it was 8 years old because she wanted a brand new one. I have had it for 17 years.
Now for the important stuff, you know, my art ๐Ÿ˜„
I made this last night. As usual, I was making it up as I went along, but once the background papers were on and the green half circles were on, it sort of looked like a sky full of planets to me, so I added some pyramids.

For a minute, since there were planets and pyramids, I considered a flying saucer too, but didn't glue it on. ๐Ÿ˜‚

The night before I made this one. When I started, the center paper jumble was supposed to be taller on the left and taper to the right, but somehow it blew up part way through and now it's a carnival. I like carnivals with their bright lights, smells of carnival foods and treats wafting through the air and their happy atmosphere. I admit though, I've never ridden on a square ferris wheel.

Now for a throw back to my childhood. Paint With Water! I saw this book a couple of months ago and since I had not seen one in years, I had to have it. I don't know why, but it had childhood feelies all over it, so into my basket it went.

It has floated around my art area, from pile to pile till a few nights ago when I decided I needed to paint at least one page, I mean, since it was here anyway.
Now I don't have exact recall, but I don't think the ones we had growing up had the dots and lines in total color like this one does. I thought the dots of paint looked darker so it was sometimes a surprise which color would come out when it was wet, but there were no mysteries here.

Still...it was fun and nostalgic to wet the brush with water and swish it over the different areas and watch the paint bloom out into the open spaces. I also don't remember the old ones having completely painted backgrounds. I did those last, but for sure it really wet the whole paper when I did, so it warped a little causing the wet paint to pool and run to the lower spaces. I wasn't really being discerning mind you, but that was just my observation.
All dry and ready to go on the refrigerator! LOL

Ok.... time to go see what I do for the rest of my dreary looking summer day. I thought yesterday it was still supposed to be in the 80s here today, but it is 64 degrees F here at 2:20 pm and my Alexa says 69 will be the high. Perfect day if you wanted to work in your yard in any way as before too long it will be time to shut the summer things down and get ready for fall.
Be Well!
Love ya!
