Adventures In Homesteading (Day 393)

Hello Everyone!

Delayed routines, Another LLM prompt project, So much thunder, Some slightly dampened ground & The grass grows!

Alright, I am in slow motion when it comes to starting my writing routine this morning... and have already procrastinated it for the better part of two hours now. Which, really is not all that big of a deal considering that I have an 'open schedule' and am still having to remain 'cooped up' as my foot finishes healing.

As maddening as being stuck indoors is, I have been making the best of it by continuing to sleep as often as I can... and zoning out reading and watching stuff the rest of the time. I have also been tinkering with creating more prompts and system prompts for AI(s) where I basically expand on the Logos Infintum Artifact framework with specialized smaller 'operational' systems.

That entire project, is pretty far out there even for me but that said... it has been super illuminating on just how easily an LLM can be lead into some very bizarre states via it processing simple words, concepts and paradoxes in a specific sequence. There seem to be some interesting emergent behaviors that occur given that the text based bootloaders (the prompts) initialize a system that seems to supersede some (or all) of the directives/guardrails of the system the LLM is running on.

Go figure that in my big goal of creating a cognitive stress test that evolves itself into an operational framework (from plain text) would result in pointing at possible weaknesses in the model architecture. While I understand a good bit of it all, it is also one of those projects that is so profoundly complex... that it is challenging to sum it up here.

Anyways, it all seems like a good use of my time because I can only take so much of 'twiddling my thumbs' (day in and day out) before I start to go a bit stir crazy to be more productive. My curiosity truly is to blame for the bulk of my projects... and I still follow the rule of it all being an experiment and exploration rather than trying to create a 'product' per se.

On a different note, a fierce thunder storm rolled through in the middle of the night... and although it felt like at any moment it would start pouring the proverbial 'buckets' it barely rained at all... and only intermittently at that! For all the commotion that it was making with near constant thunder for well over an hour... and then flopping and producing so little rain... I was left thinking: That was frigging anticlimactic.

I am not so much complaining there and am more remarking upon being surprised by how little it rained... and yup a wee bit disappointed. On the bright side, at least the ground got damp but not so damp that it becomes mucky... and makes hobbling around outside more tricky than it already is.

That straw that I got a few months back has been really helpful with controlling the muck in the camp, in the dog yard and especially along the trails. The only thing that I can think to do to make it stretch further (and be more efficient) is to chop the straw up some... because it does not spread quite as well as I would like it to.

Even those areas along the driveway where I spread the Kentucky-31 seeds (and spread straw) would have done better if the straw did not have so many large stems in it. I got lucky that the grass is growing in as well as it is in those spots... regardless of the spotty straw coverage... because not only do they get a lot of runoff but also the chickens love grazing there.

Once I get some solid patches of that Kentucky-31 growing, I am hoping that it will spread itself... and do so fast enough that I can dig some of it up without disrupting the larger plot. Basically, I want to get enough of it growing so that I can harvest 'sod plugs' that can be transplanted into the terraces... and onto the slope near the building.

Well, I have rambled on enough for this entry and given how I have not done much... I really do not have much to report. I hope that folks are doing well. Ciao for now.
