Magic: The Gathering features five colors of cards representing different philosophies of gameplay and deck design. It took a few years for the ideas to settle into a permanent pattern, and there are points of overlap, but each retains a very distinct identity.
While it is entirely possible to build a deck featuring a single color, more interesting interactions can occur when those colors are combined. There are ten two-color pairings and ten three-color groupings, each with a special name from the lore behind the game. I think @generikat's color identity is Naya, the Alara shard centered on Green, with Red and White as its secondary colors. She's a gardener and animal-lover, someone who likes growing things. That is as Green as can be. She's also a nurturer and healer, blending in more White attributes. But if you make her mad, she just might set you on fire. I thought about adding some Blue to represent her history as a librarian and teacher, but I'm trying to keep this to three colors. Sorry, Kat, your third color assignment from me is Red.
Our mutual friend T (not to be confused with her husband T) is a bit harder for me to place, even though I've known him for... never mind, let's not think about how the years add up. Anyway, he's a pretty easy-going fellow, and I think White is the primary color for his personality. When games (tabletop or video) are involved, he likes to play aggressively, and he will do whatever it takes to win. That fits the Red/Black pairing of Rakdos. Combined, that would put him in the Mardu Horde from Tarkir. However, here again, there's a massive gap leaving out his welding and construction abilities. Fortunately, Mardu can include lots of artifact shenanigans and make up for that.
As for me, I admit a longstanding habit of playing glass cannon characters in various games, and seeking to inflict maximum damage with minimal concern for my own well-being. That's Red, plain and simple. I'll claim Blue for my librarian career and interest in philosophy, plus preference for making my own rules instead of blindly following others. I'll also add White for myself, since I prefer to avoid conflict rather than attempt to intimidate my way through life. I guess that puts me in the Jeskai Way.
