*Whom do you reach when you face any issue regarding anything? Who is the first person that comes into your mind? For me it's my mom and I guess it's same for lots of people. So this time I had some issues with the eyesight and doctors suggested me to have as much as vegetables and carrot as I can. Vegetable was not an issue for me but carrot, I wasn't sure how to add this in my diet. Yes, I have tried eating it as a salad but how long?
So I told my mom to tell me some recipe which is easy to prepare and has carrot in it. So today here I am with an amazing recipe of carrot chilla, basically a thin Pan fried dish.*
Basically chilla is a home cooked dish but if you are lucky enough you can find it in some Indian restaurants and roadside stalls. It's famous all over India and mostly at Northern India and Western India. There are different ways to prepare chilla and today I have added carrot in it as it is rich in vitamin A and vitamin C and also controls blood pressure.
Ingredients
2 Onion 1 Tomato 2 Carrots 1 tps Cumin seeds 1 tps Coriander powder 1/2 kg Besan/gram flour 4 tps Oil 2 tps Salt 2 tps Garam Masala
This quantity is enough to serve two people and all these are ingredients are easily available at home.
Procedure
Wash the ingredients first and then start chopping them. I have used garter for carrots as in chilla it's not going to cook properly so it's recommended to chop it fine.
Chop onions and tomatoes if you don't like any of them you can also skip it as it's totally upon you and on your taste. In order to spice it up you can also add green chillies or red chilli powder I don't like spicy food that's why I have avoided it.
Just like that, all the necessary ingredients are chopped and now it's time to add them into gram flour.
I have taken half kg of Gram flour and now it's time to add carrot, onions and tomatoes in it. It looks so colourful.
You might think that carrot is sweet in taste, how would it test if we add salt in it? Well trust the procedure and you will definitely enjoy it at the end.The sweet taste of carrot completely blends with the gram flour and salt, enhancing it's taste 10 time. Moreover I believe the taste of food depends upon the love you pour while preparing it.
Now it's time to add coriander powder, cumin seeds, salt and garam masala in it. Mix it well and let it sit for 5 minutes.
Take out the pan and apply some oil on its surface and let it heat for 2 minutes. Now pour the mixture in it give it any shape you wanted. I have made them round, as round as I could, haha.
Cook Them from both side until they turn golden. Well your chilla is ready. I prefer to eat it with curd you can also have it with tea.
This is Ananda curd and full of protein which is essential in my diet. What would you prefer green chutney, curd or tea?
You can also have it with green chutney and this taste slightly nutty, soft and a hint of different flavours and satisfying.
