Earning While Shopping: The Perks In Affiliate Marketing

I’ve noticed that many Filipinos are discussing affiliate marketing these days. Before I thought it was just for influencers with big followers. But then I learned that anyone with a phone, internet, and a bit of effort can actually try it out.

And many thought that to earn commission is only through promoting products. But it is not true. The fact is, you can earn a commission while shopping, not just by promoting products. You'll know how as you read along.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate Marketing is simple to understand. You share a link to a product on social media platforms, and when someone buys through that link, you earn commissions. You don’t need to buy stocks, handle shipping, or deal with customer complaints. You’re basically helping connect buyers with sellers, and you get rewarded for it.

If I'm not mistaken, anyone around the world can engage in affiliate marketing as long as the platforms used are available in their country. If you are familiar with these platforms, consider becoming an affiliate marketer or simply shopping online for your own use and earning some commissions.

The three platforms I am using for affiliate marketing are: * Shoppee * TikTok * Ecomobi Passio

Shoppee: The Easy Start

Shoppee is probably the most popular online shopping platform in the Philippines. It is easy and convenient to use, and also offers different vouchers and free shipping, which I like the most!. I call it the easy start because it's easy to join the affiliate program. You simply need to apply, get approved, obtain affiliate links, and start sharing.

There is no pressure here, and you are not required to create content. You can share links on Facebook, directly to friends, or even in a group chat. You can earn when someone buys using your link. The downside of this platform is the requirement for valid payment and tax information to activate your payment method, which, as of now, is still pending on my side.

TikTok: Selling Through Creativity

TikTok is perhaps the most popular social media platform nowadays for watching creative content. Meanwhile, affiliates create short videos, such as reviews or unboxing videos, to promote the products they want to promote. Links to the products can be tagged in their videos.

If you're on TikTok and not doing anything to earn, you can try it, too. Unlike on Shoppee, you can have your own product showcase on TikTok once you reach 600 followers. Buyers can explore your showcase without having to visit the sellers' shops directly. Once they buy the product in your showcase, you earn from it. And take note, there is no minimum withdrawal on TikTok! Filipinos can use their GCash accounts to withdraw earnings on TikTok.

It was August when I started using TikTok shop in buying supplies for my store. I earn commission from shopping even without promoting the products on the platform. When I reached 600 followers, that's when I was able to add links to my videos and started promoting products.

But nowadays, you can already tag product links on Facebook reels, too, once you're invited to the affiliate program. You can create a video about your product, and add the link so people can directly buy through your link.

But then, as I said, that's only possible when you are invited to Facebook's affiliate program. If you're not eligible to this program, another way is to simply put the link on the comment section of the video so people can see it.

If you want to earn commission while shopping for yourself on TikTok, simply use the product link in purchasing.

You can copy the product link and paste it on your browser, or your own messenger account, then click on that link to purchase the product.

Ecomobi Passio: Everything in One Place

This platform was introduced to me by my sister. As I mentioned above, it's everything in one place. You don't need a specific number of followers to participate in the affiliate program. It's more like a tool that connects everything with access to many brands, both local and international. And instead of posting multiple links everywhere, you only need one.

All you need to do is download the app, register, and complete the verification process. Once you're in, just generate the product link you get from online shops like Shoppee and TikTok, then share the generated link on your social media.

To generate links on Ecomobi Passio, follow these steps: 1. Go to your online shops. Example, Shoppee or TikTok Shop. 2. Choose a product you want to buy or promote. 3. Click the link to the product. 4. Go to the Ecomobi Passio app, and click "Generate Link." 5. Paste the link of the product inside the box, then hit "Generate Link." 6. The generated link will appear below the box, and then copy and share it on social media where you want to promote the product.

You can also do this when you want to purchase for yourself to earn commission.

You will also get a dashboard on Ecomobi where you can track your sales, and a customized personal page where you can list and highlight the products you want to promote. The only downside here is the minimum withdrawal amount, which is P1,200. You also need a bank account here.
