Last week after yoga class, I decided to treat myself with something light and comforting. I headed over to a cozy bakery shop nearby, intending to just grab my usual order: a regular-sized iced coffee and a couple of pastries to enjoy at home. Nothing fancy, just my typical post-yoga indulgence.
As I walked up to the counter, the barista greeted me with a cheerful smile and mentioned that they were celebrating the shop’s anniversary. She explained that for every ₱500 purchase, customers could join their promo and get the chance to draw a prize. I hadn’t planned on spending that much, but the thought of winning something made me curious. Plus, it didn’t take much convincing—I was already eyeing their lasagna displayed on the menu board. So instead of my small order, I upgraded to their upside iced coffee and added a hearty serving of lasagna.

When it came time to draw, I honestly didn’t expect anything. I reached into the box, pulled out a folded slip of paper, and handed it to the barista. To my surprise, she smiled even wider and announced that I had won a tote bag! It wasn’t just any tote bag—it was this cute, sturdy, eco-friendly one with the bakery’s charming design printed on it. I couldn’t help but grin; it felt like such a sweet and unexpected bonus to my day.
The tote has quickly become one of my favorites. I now use it to carry my yoga essentials or even groceries, and every time I do, it reminds me of that spontaneous moment at the bakery. What started as a simple coffee run turned into a fun little memory that made me appreciate how small surprises can brighten up an ordinary day.
Sometimes, life’s best treats don’t come from what we plan but from the unexpected. And in this case, all it took was lasagna, iced coffee, and a bit of luck to bring home a prize that made my day extra special.
