Last weekend was a little different from my usual weekends—I joined our company’s tree planting activity. As part of our CSR program, our company recently bought a piece of land with the goal of turning it into a forest someday. This year, we were set to plant over 100 trees, and I was actually excited to be part of it.
The day didn’t start out so promising though. It rained a few hours before our call time, and I honestly thought the whole thing might be called off. Thankfully, by the time we got there, the rain had stopped. The only downside was that the ground was still muddy, which made walking around a bit tricky. A few of us even laughed at how our shoes kept sinking into the soil—messy, but fun in its own way.
When we arrived, I was surprised to see that the maintenance team had already dug the holes for us. That made things easier since all we needed to do was place the seedlings in, cover them with soil, and pat it down. It might sound simple, but it felt really meaningful. Each tree I planted made me imagine what the place would look like years from now—rows of tall trees, fresh air, maybe even birds nesting around.
What I enjoyed the most was the teamwork. Everyone pitched in—no titles, no roles—just people planting trees together. It felt nice to be out in nature, getting my hands dirty, and doing something that actually matters. Plus, it was refreshing to do something outdoors instead of the usual work routines.
By the time we wrapped up, I was tired, muddy, and a little sweaty—but it was the good kind of tired. It felt fulfilling knowing that I contributed, even in a small way, to something that will hopefully last for generations. Definitely one of those weekends I’ll look back on with a smile.
That's it for today's blog. See you in my next one!
Sending some love and light
