There’s something refreshing about discovering a new spot in the city where you can simply walk, unwind, and soak in the afternoon sun. Recently, I finally had the chance to visit the Mandani Bay boardwalk, a newly opened space near the port that’s now open to the public. It has quickly become a go-to destination for locals who enjoy jogging, biking, or just taking a relaxed stroll by the water.
The boardwalk itself is wide and welcoming, with a clear view of the bay that instantly sets a calming mood. When I visited on a sunny afternoon, the light reflecting off the water made everything feel warm and vibrant. People were jogging, families were spending time together, and groups of friends were gathered here and there—proof of how much the city needed a public space like this.
Of course, the place still has its quirks. At the moment, food options are very limited. The only vendor available was the Thirsty food truck, which thankfully offered fruit shakes and a few snacks. While that was refreshing enough, I couldn’t help but wish there were more stalls to choose from. Another downside was the smell of fried oil drifting from the port, which was hard to ignore at times. It’s not the most pleasant scent to accompany an otherwise breezy walk.
Still, those minor inconveniences didn’t take away the overall charm of the experience. What I loved most was the simplicity—just walking along the boardwalk, watching the horizon, and enjoying the mix of sea breeze and sunlight. It gave me a quiet sense of calm that I didn’t realize I needed.
As I left that afternoon, with the sun slowly setting behind me, I felt lighter and content. The Mandani Bay boardwalk may not be perfect yet, but it’s a promising spot for anyone who wants a quick escape within the city. And I’m definitely looking forward to more walks by the bay.
